we made our way to Moree on the train, which was a very pleasant experience. Only downside is that there is no public transport to move around the town, there is a bus that needs to be booked every time you need to get anywhere. But we chose a central accommodation which allowed us to get to places and walks were pleasant.

Bigger than I thought and seemed to have most of what you could ask for in a country town - services club, restaurant including Macdonalds, Subway and even a Harvey Norman store. Two supermarkets. A lovely sojourn

We love the hot bore baths at Moree and will chose to stay in Moree rather than Goondawindi for that reason. The Tourist Information Centre near the river park is a fascinating place with clean toilets, produce and tourist information. Well worth a visit. The park is a lovely place to have lunch in as it is green and peaceful overlooking the river. I visited the Yaama Ganu Galley on Balo street an viewed the amazing art works of First Nations people. The art is truly spectacular, so vibrant and wonderful to see. I also visited the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre in Balo street. This is an amazing place where I learnt a lot about the Kamilaroi people of Moree, their histories, struggles, resilience and achievements. There was also a memorial to the lives lost in the Myall Creek massacre. There was a place to sit and read/browse through some of the books about the local community. I loved this place,. Visitors can also do family history as this is a place where there is a large collection of records.

Some lovely architecture, art deco and Victorian.

Some lovely architecture, art deco and Victorian. Plenty of cultural activities, art trail, galleries and an interesting museum. The visitor centre is great and the staff very helpful. Lovely cafes on the main Balo St. A few designer clothes and gift shops and a couple of larger stores. The riverside walk is great with good pathways and interesting exhibits. The thermal pools are a must. There are plenty around both public pools and some with accommodation. Very relaxing.

People go there mainly for a soak in the artesian thermal pools, or as a stopover point en route to somewhere. Big town proper, neat and tidy, and not too many people. No public transport, but we could have been informed that there was a OnDemand Community Bus to take us around town. We did a lot of walking to go around the township. Subway takeaway was good, as was the RSL club for food and drinks. Husband enjoyed the art gallery at the old bank bldg. Quite hard to get around Moree unless you have sturdy legs to walk around if you just took the train from Sydney, coz no public transport in Moree. Not much to do in Moree except to soak in the thermal pools and just take a break away from the Big Smoke and do nothing.

Moree offers convenient shopping and nice parks, Moree Artesian Acquatic Centre and the side of the town in which the Winchester Motel was located was very quiet. Walking to the baths was no problem. As it was early January and a Sunday night, some of the close restaurants were closed but we found an excellent noodle shop five minutes from our motel which served tasty meals.

Excellent staff, comfortable bed, clean. Didn’t realise the artesian pool was here until I went to feel the water. The pool is lovely and relaxing. Pet friendly. Didn’t eat at the restaurant this time but will definitely stay here again and dine in next time.
