It's great for couples, not alot to do for children but we found a few options. Perfect for a weekend getaway and of course a wedding which is why we were there. Super impressed with Brokenwood and the changes they have made.

Pokolbin has quite a few things to do and a number of accommodation options at your disposal. It's just a matter of how much you can afford to spend and how much time you have to see everything. We drove around as this was easiest for a family, although you had the expensive horse and carriage or cheap electric bike hire as other options. The wineries are always a winner, but the Chocolate & Fudge Factory and Cheese Factory are good to visit as well. Take a look at Pepper Tree Vineyard. They offer free use of their gardens/vines for a picnic opportunity, but you do need to book this.

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best.

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort was horrific. Only those visitors who booked with Oaks could use facilities others could not even though we paid the same amount. We were deprived of the use of major facilities at the resort as we booked through booking .com. It was a humiliating experience, awful for my daughter. Heartbreaking. The woman at Oaks reception was vile when explaining the disaster to me.

There are so many activities in Pokolbin, wineries, ballooning, bike riding, bushwalking, the gardens, chocolate, cheese to name a few. It is also a peaceful place to visit if you want to curl up and read a book.

Stopping off at the Information Centre was a great idea as the staff was so helpful and full of suggestions to suit our plans. They were able to recommend a great cafe, Cafe Enzo, and booked a table for us so we wouldn’t miss out, recommended a winery and art gallery, Winmark, as well as a few other wineries and cafe, Jimmy Jones in Lovedale. They were all amazing and really made our trip. Just wish we could have stayed one more night to explore more!

Lots of Wineries with some really excellent wines.

Lots of Wineries with some really excellent wines. Disappointing that most wineries are charging $20 tasting fees (for 90ml of their wine at best) and a lot of the wines are cheaper through on-line sites rather than the cellar door. Some unique wines not available otherwise. The restaurants seem to fall into expensive ($120-$150/person set menu - book and pay ahead) or pub style. with no real middle ground. There is also a lack of transport in the area - so driving is really the only option and thus not tasting the wine :-(

My family of four stayed at this villa in the hunter valley. We were familiar with the area and choose this villa so we could walk to a few restaurants and the Hunter valley garden area. The villa itself was well appointed and plenty big enough for me and my wife and two teenage kids. It was also located away from the roads making it rather quiet. The hosts communication was excellent and the added treats of bread, milk, eggs and some other goodies on arrival was a homely and lovely touch. We’d certainly stay at this villa again.

Absolutely beautiful, I knew it would be good but it exceeded my expectations and blew my mind how beautiful it actually is!! It’s was more the comfortable for 12 ladies, the kitchen was so well equipped for us to cook up a storm, the beds and pillows were so comfortable in every room, the couches and furnishings were cosy and stunning and the fire place was the cherry on top!! Location is perfect for wine tasting and the hunter valley gardens. I could go on and on!!! If you book this property you want be disappointed 🥰

Breakfast was generous for our group of 7. Location was great; peaceful, close to vineyards and Hunter Valley Gardens. Nicely appointed living area and communal spaces. Beautiful surrounds which we unfortunately didn't have time to explore during our one night stay. Great set up for 4 couples, with 2 younger children. Access to activities on site (eBike, escape room). Would love to stay longer next time.

This a very elegant country house hotel, placed perfectly in the Hunter Valley wine region. Our room was very stylish, and the buffet breakfast was one of the best l have ever had anywhere in the world. We particularly enjoyed the open fire in the small sitting room where we had a drink and bar snacks. The grounds are superb and very well maintained.

A convenient location with Harrigans pub on site for food and drink. At times you could hear the music but it wasn’t loud enough to disturb sleep. A nice place to stay while visiting the Hunter Valley.
