We really loved the house and would definitely stay there again. Andy was a great host and very helpful. Location is perfect and the house had beautiful views. Would definitely recommend Grapevine to my friends.
The views of the mountains, particularly between Pokolbin and Broke, are spectacular. We had a delicious lunch at The Cellar Restaurant in Hunter Valley Gardens and returned to the Oakdale Winery to stock up on their latest beverages. If you have a car and spend a little time planning your adventure, you'll find getting around Pokolbin and surrounds quite enjoyable, Just don't be in a rush as some of the minor roads can be agricultural at times.
We have visited the Valley many times and really enjoy all the experiences offered We are treated respectfully and given time to appreciate the wine at wineries, cheese at tastings, and food at the restaurants There is a genuine passion for all that is precious in the Valley
We loved being able to privately look out over the landscape and watch the kangaroos, water fowls, rabbits and ducks also enjoying the surrounds. One morning I even saw a fox traversing our back patio !
Pokolbin is a great location right at the heart of all the wineries. We attended a wedding at Bimbadgen, Palmers Lane and had a great time. The staff were excellent and the location spot on. Although the weather was not that good for the several days we were in Pokolbin we did visit some great wineries and the Hunter Gardens was a pleasant surprise with a British Lolly shop & Putt Putt right at the heart of the centre. Pokolbin winery was the pick of the wineries for us along with Gun Dog, both very friendly and no charge to have a tasting. Baume was the best restaurant with great pizzas, while Brokenwood served a great breakfast. If you like chocolate then Chocolate Nib located next to Tulloch winery gives a great selection of hand crafted delights. Finally, if you like cheese then a visit to the Cheese Factory located at Mcguigan Wines was fantastic unlike the smelly cheese factory across the road at Roche winery
We stayed at the Chateau Elan. A fabulous resort with a world class golf course. We didn't venture too far from the resort due to the pandemic and the resort more than accomodated all our needs (food was very good). There are many great places to eat around Pokolbin(e.g Il Cacciatore), though booking well in advance is advisable. When we did our wine tasting , we went to our favourite cellar doors (at Brokenwood)and the village for shopping and coffee.
Everything was perfect! Loved everything about this hotel, staff were excellent and friendly, our room the premier suite was so beautiful and very clean, had everything we needed and more, bed was comfortable, fireplace was nice and cozy, also the Italian restaurant was amazing with beautiful food, and of course the location is perfect close to everything cafes restaurants, hunter valley gardens. Everything was beautiful we will definitely be back to stay here again soon, many thanks.
Pokolbin
First it is located to Hunter Valley Garden where we visited and close to almost everything around the area. The Hotel is quite beautiful and the staff is friendly also really helpful. For the room itself is just like a small house which it has a kitchen a decent size fridge, big lounge and even better big TV. The best thing is they have a big bath tub for my son to play. The bed is so comfortable and there a nice view outside the room. Thank you so much
Pokolbin
The location of the resort is a very beautiful part of the Hunter Valley a few kilometers west of Pokolbin. We stayed in a Vineyard Cabin which although they were nothing spectacular to look at were very nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. The view from the front balcony was simply stunning. We received two vouchers for guided tours, one of the vineyards and one of the cellars which was a nice surprise.
The room was spacious with a big bath with a skylight/window directly above which was great for relaxation. Breakfast was with vouchers at Harrigans Irish pub which we walked to in the mornings and was good. Location is great because you are central to the Hunter Valley Gardens and restaurants and wineries are all close by.
Pokolbin Village was a good place to stay. Too cold to use the pool but it looked clean and well laid out. Efficient heating. Although the room is only serviced every second day extra clean towels were left and plenty of toiletries were left. The grounds were well kept and guests are able to do short ‘bush walks’
Gorgeous grounds, gardens, and facilities, lovely for an evening stroll, and made for a beautiful end to our honeymoon. We had a lovely view from our room in the Manor House. Location was great for easy access to activities like wine tours and the Hunter Valley Gardens. Great value overall, would stay here again!
Pokolbin
The owners were lovely - very welcoming and helpful. The property is beautiful, unusual, large and well equipped with lots of nice additional touches for entertainment such as board games, dvds and books. It is a much nicer option than a hotel or motel room and gives you the choice of indoor or outdoor eating.
Pokolbin
It was so clean, loved the white sheets. The cooking facilities were great, with everything you needed to cook up a storm. Loved looking out of the windows at the wild life. No cobwebs anywhere. The cottage was spacious, and loved the verandas. The house didn't smell of smoke as it was none smoking.
Excellent location in heart of the Hunter Valley. Townhouse was spacious with woody, country outlook plus full kitchen and large comfortable beds. I would have liked to stay longer. It was an excellent weekend and I would definitely go back.
Pokolbin
Excellent location - close to the centre on Pokolbin. Both the pool and Spa were excellent and loved by the kids. Good facilities in the House, including a good array of kitchen appliances to cook meals for two families.
Delicious continental breakfast delivered to the room so we could enjoy it sitting on the verandah. Small hotel in a great location to explore the wineries and restaurants of the Hunter Valley.
Pokolbin
hideously over priced room for what you get. The buffet bfast was awful - poor staffing, untidy, quality was poor. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I wont ever book this hotel again.
Pokolbin
Location was central to all activities and events planned for our time in the hunter valley. Cheese plate on arrival plus other complimentary snack treats.
It’s very secluded, smaller hotel, lovely for intimate getaways with that 5 Star feel. Just what we needed
Pokolbin
Quiet, isolated location; beautiful house with great amenities; occasional kangaroos that came by.
Hotel is very traditional and villa type, very friendly staff.
Self contained and sufficient, perfect for a group
Nice hotel in the heart of the Hunter Wine Region
