Sparkling clean and beautifully decorated apartment with plenty of space to stretch out. The artistic prints depicting various places in Tasmania added some nice local color. I'd love to buy some for my own home! The kitchen was well equipped for preparing simple meals and the town's IGA supermarket was just a 3 minute drive away. It was surprisingly well stocked with fresh fruits, veg, and meats/fish.

If you LOVE LONG river boat trips with convict info, then...

If you LOVE LONG river boat trips with convict info, then take advantage. If you prefer shorter cruises with convict information thrown in, save yourself for Port Arthur. The Ship That Never Was performance was extremely entertaining and heaps of fun. Tracks on Point was great for dinner but shuts early, everything we ordered was super fresh and excellently made. Freshly made waffles with apple crumble to finish .. yum!

The boat trip up the Gordon river and down to Hell's Gate...

The boat trip up the Gordon river and down to Hell's Gate were the highlight. The train was great too. The pub is great, the people all superfriendly. If it's a vibrant 24 hour party you're after, Strahan is not for you. But if you want wilderness tranquility and a sense of history, then go visit.

Strahan is a beautiful, scenic town on Tasmania's amazing...

Strahan is a beautiful, scenic town on Tasmania's amazing west coast. It is a friendly, relaxed town offering great accommodation options, service and food; lovely beaches, amazing sand dunes (not far away), and great short walks, including Hogarth Falls which starts in People's Park. Strahan is also home to two of Tassie's major tourist attractions - Macquarie Harbour/Sarah Island and the Gordon River, serviced by two cruise companies, and the Strahan end of Tasmanian Wilderness Railway. We personally love the "World Heritage Cruises" Gordon River journey because of their family's long association with the area. The breadth of their knowledge of Strahan, the Gordon River and the area's history is amazing! The long running play - "The Ship That Never Was" is a treat for all ages, and Morrison's Huon Pine Mill and shop is also a must-see. Once you've visited Strahan, it's highly likely you'll want to return!

We visited Strahan with aim of using the Wilderness Railway...

We visited Strahan with aim of using the Wilderness Railway & World Heritage Cruises. We had an interstate visitor and felt it was a good opportunity to see both of these attractions. (we have done both previously). We were NOT disappointed and neither was our visitor! Both experiences were excellent, Facilities & staff on both were friendly, helpful and professional. The locals in both Strahan & Queenstown were also very welcoming. Our visit was splendid from start to finish. Thank you.

Enjoyed the Gordan river cruise and the walking trails/waterfalls. Strahan village was horrible accommodation and food in the area is extremely over priced. Better to stay at the caravan park and shop at the local IGA.

This little town have many ducks walking around.

This little town have many ducks walking around. Coming from a concrete jungle, Strahan truly provides me the serenity which my mind and soul have been hungry for. Taking the Gordon River Cruise and train will surely add on to your experience at this wonderful town

We stayed in cottage SARAH. It is shabby on the outside, clearly being restored, but clean and fresh inside. There is plenty of room. A full kitchen and laundry, new appliances and everything you need to make a meal, even an old barbecue outside. There was plenty of heating and hot water. It would be perfect for a family with young kids. The front lawn was full of bunnies and amusing lapwings. It’s located on the road to the golf course. Very quiet area but only a two minute drive to the Strahan waterfront.

Clean and quiet caravan park cabin within walking distance of Strahan town, local playgrounds and across from a swimming "beach". Good size for a family of 5. Basic amenities such as tea, coffee, sugar and bath products provided. Local IGA for all the rest. Also, highly recommend the local Hogarth Falls walk and the "World Heritage Cruise" (red boat) during your stay- the highlight of the trip to Tassie's wilderness.
