We liked the local restaurants, not the expensive ones the good value ones where locals eat. We used the "yellow buses", a total experience not to be missed!! Very reasonable bus fares. Varied beaches, however plenty to choose from if one is prepared to investigate. We're both 72 years of age, so we had plan our days to suit us.

St. James is my favorite parish to stay while visiting Barbados. The parish owns many white beautiful sandy beaches on the west coast of the island. Public and private transportation is easily accessible along Highway 1A. I love staying in or close to the Holetown vicinity since there is everything within reached ( Massey (grocery), restaurants, banks, water sports and nightlife. I dined at QP Bistro twice during my trip because the staff, food, ambiance and the entertainment is phenomenal. Also, Just Grillin Sunset Crest is a good restaurant to grab lunch or dinner but there is always a long line; the food is good. Zaccios restaurant makes a good pizza. In addition, on first and second street in Holetown, nightlife is vibrant

Our area was away from the main tourist hotspots.

Our area was away from the main tourist hotspots. The busses were regular and cheap into Bridgetown and out to Holetown as well. There was only about one place to eat within easy walking distance but a good supermarket in Holetown and local shops nearer. The nearest beach was nice and shady and there was a lot of room on it as it was mainly used by locals. There was some snorkeling at each end and adjoining beaches were equally nice with a little more in the way of facilities.

upon our arrival, they warmly welcomed us and showed us the whole house, which is spacious, clean and in a quiet environment. we really liked it there and highly recommend it. The owners of the house Pat and John are very nice. Pat prepared a fish for us which was very good. we really liked that there is a shower outside that you can use when you come from the beach. The location was great, close to everywhere.

The hotel upgraded my room when I go to Barbados - and immediately I was grateful. The staff were friendly and really helped me get around Barbados. The hotel restaurant menu is limited though, and doesnt open on Mondays, which is strange. But the staff hooked me up with the HopScoth website which is Barbados version of Ubereats.

We stayed at Gully Point in Hometown, Saint James, Barbados,...

We stayed at Gully Point in Hometown, Saint James, Barbados, which was an excellent Villa 15 mins walk to the beach/town. The beaches are excellent, some with less or slightly more rocks depending on where you are, but able to enjoy the water and beach at many locations fairly easily. If you're not wanting to spend too much $$ for a fancy beachside restaurant, you can often rent a pair of chairs and umbrella for ~ $20 USD for the day and bring your own drinks/food. The city of Holetown has everything you need from grocery store, Starbucks, restaurants, beachside bars and restaurants. There are locals who will offer seadoo or various other water sport experiences, but be sure to bargain otherwise it can get very expensive. Very good overall beach area to visit, safe, but it is a bit on the pricier side in comparison to other islands.

Fabulous location right on the beach. Rooms a little basic however nice & clean, great shower. Kitchen area means you can prepare own meals if required. Zaccios bar & restaurant attatched to hotel is great, happy hour 1600 to 1800hrs is very popular. All staff at Tropical Sunset & Zaccios are friendly & helpful. Free sunbeds on beach & supplied beach towels are a bonus.
