The beautiful Belgian city of Leuven is located only a 20-minute drive from Brussels and about 40 minutes from Antwerp. This charming destination is home to the archives of the famous philosopher Edmund Husserl, the oldest Catholic university and the largest brewery in the world.
You can wander around the picturesque streets of the city, admire the stunning traditional buildings and savour a refreshing beer near the imposing Grote Markt with the Gothic Town Hall. The majestic church of St. Peter’s and the Grand Beguinage (Groot Begijnhof) are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Visit the M-Museum Leuven, the Treasury of Saint Peter, the National Scouts Museum and the Norbertine Park Abbey and enjoy a magic journey through the rich history of this magnificent city.
Featuring green parks, lively markets and excellent golf courses, Leuven has something for everyone. Situated in the village of Sint-Pieters-Rode, about 18 km away, the stunning moated Horst Castle offers exciting guided tours and an inviting restaurant.
The vibrant university city of Leuven is the capital of the Flemish Brabant Province and a great base to discover Bruges, Ghent, Liege and Hasselt. Brussels Airport is 15 km away and Booking.com will help you find the right hotel and apartment in historic Leuven.
It was wonderful wandering around the well-preserved old town, which is mostly pedestrianised, and supports cyclists so well. This makes the roads wonderfully quiet, and a pleasure to walk and cycle around. Hiring a bicycle to explore was very easy. We could easily have stayed an extra day, to explore more of the parks. The botanical gardens were lovely. It is difficult finding reasonably priced vegetarian meals in restaurants.
Leuven at Christmas is pretty. Leuven in summer is relaxed with outdoor dining. And when it rains you can visit a museum or an event. But also shopping in the Mechelse straat is fantastic. We love the international student vibe. It is a special city to visit for a few days of fun.
Nice city. It was heavily destroyed during both World Wars, therefore, many tourists prefer Brugge and Ghent but here you can find some interesting place to visit. In particular, Grand Beginage of Leuven is biggest of all Beginages and I prefer it over Brugge's. Leuven library is great example of people willingness to repair what is important for them, no matter what. City Hall is very nice. Botanical garden is one of the nicest I ever seen. And for some reason, there is not much people. However, I cannot say I'm impressed with Christmas or any other Leuven markets - they are small. Same for shopping - there are more interesting place for shopping in Belgium. Transporation is easy: there is a bus stop close to railway station and Blue bike rental as well. City is small and walking is easy.
Leuven is among the best cities I visited. The main square is gorgeous (as it is the case with many Belgian cities), but even outside of that the architecture is quite wonderful, like the university library, or the Arenberg Castle. Some of these buildings are also very interesting from a historical perspective, like the Small and Great Beguinage. The city also has wonderful parks from Sint-Donatuspark, and the somewhat hidden Dijlepark to the botanic garden where one can spend hours looking at the vegetation/flowers, visiting the greenhouse and the turtles, or just sitting by the pond. And there is always something interesting to see in Museum Leuven.
Beautiful historic town filled with restaurants bars and plenty of shops, cobble stones so bring comfortable shoes, extremely calm athmosphere with loads of cyclists, who have the right of way ,you will need a translation app for restaurants .
Lovely town hall, church and other buildings all in the sme area. Only saw them at night but well worth the visit. We were only staying there overnight, but chose Leuven as I knew about the fantastic town hall, and had also heard about the longest bar in Europe!!!
We had a lovely stay at the Boutique Guesthouse Leuven this week! The location could not be more convenient - it took us less than 15 minutes by foot to get to the city center and to the Stella Artois brewery, and the train station was just a short walk away too. The room was exactly as pictured, and our experience was very well taken care of, with the property manager consistently making sure we had everything that we needed for a great stay. Would definitely recommend for a future stay!
Hotel is conveniently located just a few steps from railway station. Staff were really nice and helpful (appears to be a family-run business) - they allowed us to store our suitcases for a couple of hours as we arrived prior to check-in time, and then assisted us to carry the bags up to our room on the third floor. Unfortunately due to an early departure to catch a flight, we never got to have breakfast there - one day we will go back to check it out.
Leuven
The location is good, reasonable walking distance to the train station, as well as the main sights, restos, cafes, etc. The room was clean, bed was very comfy. The communal living room has plenty of space to sit or work. Good wifi. Kitchen was complete: fridge, dishwasher, water boiler, stove (though we did not use it). There is also a pantry where guests can leave or take or share food items, and coffee was also available.
We made an emergency booking since the hotel we booked at originally was not actually operating (a fact that nobody felt the need of making us aware when we booked). Pentahotel was the one that was most appealing when looking for a new hotel, and the staff was exceptionally helpful in getting us there (access by car is a bit challenging) and making our stay as comfortable as possible.
The hotel is in a great location, easy to get to from the railway station, via bus, taxi or on foot. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The main sights, bars, cafes restaurants are within five minute walk and the are coffee shops, bar, restaurants all around the hotel as well as two shops.
Superb location, right in the city center. Several bus stations around the hotel and train station is within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area. Room is spacious and equipped with kettle and coffee machine. Staff is friendly and helpful, he attended to our issues patiently.
Location is excellent, immediately across the road from Leuven station. There is no lift and we were on the top floor but we were helped up the incredibly steep narrow staircase with our cases, not that we needed it, but it was all very jolly. Breakfast was ok as I recall.
Very clean (also rooms cleaned everyday), comfortable location (just behind the railway station- but no noise), reasonable choice of food for breakfast, friendly staff, perfect for its price (especially in Leuven).
Nice modern designed hotel. Large rooms, very large bathrooms and very nice to have a separate toilet. Just above the station and close to a bike parking and rental spot.easy check-out available.
The location is good - in front of the train station. The room is good has own toilet and shower. There is a daily cleaning service. The hotel also offers a pretty good breakfast.
Leuven

The food was delicious and healthy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is very near, walking distance, to railway station.
The location is perfect for Leuven and Rock Wechter festival. Right beside the train station. Good breakfast.
