It's one of the best cities on the belgian coast if you like tranquility and if you're not to fond of the commercial side of things. It's a small area, you can easily walk to most parts. Great restaurants, great beach terraces, fantastic clean beach, no crappy casino's. There's also a great indoor pool if you're planning to go with kids and come across a rainy day.
Perfect for family. Very pleasant seaside town only an hour away from Calais and Eurotunnel. Lovely long sandy beaches with dunes. Perfect for long walks or short stralls along the sea, ideal for hours of play on the beaches, or even kite surfing. Restaurants can be quite pricey. Lovely and interesting shops in town. Noticed surf school and sailing club, but have not had time to explore options. Seems ideal for bike rides too.
great place to walk in the dunes and enjoy the sea and the large beach, even in winter. carnival is always funn. Plenty of places where you can eat and relax. Very good for a short holliday with kids.
Oostduinkerke has the nicest and cleanest beach, but the sea dyke stops on both sides, so you have to continue to walk in the dunes or drive on the road to another coastal area. I recommand to rent a bike, it's near to Koksijde or Nieuwpoort. There are several good lunchbars on the sea dyke.
lots of space on the promenade for rollerblading and skateboarding and cycling. restaurants and shops all closed during the week in may/june. we liked the space, but if you are after some beach life, forget it - unless it's a summer weekend or maybe july or august. beach is very wide and very clean, didn't see one piece of rubbish. no swimming, though. water too shallow and far out and nasty currents apparently and too cold. food in restaurants very expensive. belgium would probably be the last place i would chose for a beach holiday. the town has high rise apartment buildings and no real character.
The room was of a good size, with a modern, clean bathroom. The breakfast had to be brought to us, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, and this limited the choice which a buffet might have offered. The service, however, was attentive and friendly. The reception also recommended a good-quality restaurant nearby when we didn't want the (very limited) hotel menu for dinner.
Oostduinkerke
A quiet and very(!) nice place yet still close to about everything in Oostduinkerke - strongly recommended! The small kitchen offers all basic facilities you need in case you're up to self-cooking. Next time we'll try the BBQ :) Thank you, Els for having us!
The room was large and with design furniture, the bed comfortable and the bathroom with a jacuzzi and a large shower. The hotel is close to the beach (no sea view) and ideally located for beautiful walks among the dunes.
this should have been a 4 or even 5 star rated hotel rather than 3 the whole property is very well designed and very nice location near the sea
