Located in historic Melnik, Hotel Bolyarka offers a restaurant serving regional specialties and wine, a Finnish sauna, outdoor hot tub and sun bed. It also has a summer garden with barbecue... The staff was polite and helpful, the room was big enough with a comfortable bed. We had a good sleep, it is very quiet around the hotel. The owner is an ex-football player and has stories to tell. Breakfast and dinner were delicious - all products are either homemade or bought directly from farmers. 10/10 Would stay there again.

Hotel Melnik, Hotel Slavova Krepost, and Mario Hotel & Complex got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Melnik.
Melnik is lovely with lots of wine to try. Good for hiking too. Walking to the monastery is a must! It does NOT have a pharmacy. Finding basic things like paracetamol was a nightmare. A kind member of staff from a hotel gave me one of his arthritis meds.
Regarding the hotel - everything was perfect - the room, the breakfast, the staff. The hotel also has an excellent location - on a walking distance from all wine cellars & restaurants. Melnik itself is the Bulgarian wine capital - so go there anytime you visit the country. And do not miss the Museum of the wine.
Melnik is the smallest and also my favourite town in Bulgaria. Its wine culture, its architecture and the nature surrounding it, are unique. If I would take my foreign friends to any place in the country, Melnik would definitely be in the top 3. Fully recommend!
Hikers, nature lovers, photographers and wine lovers should not miss this town, which is known as the "smallest town" in Bulgaria with around 200 residents. It's one of the few places where nature has shaped big sand pyramids, some of which can reach a height of 100 meters. There are unlimited possibilities for hikes from the town, the most popular are to Rozhen Monastery and to a church in Zlatolist where a 1,300-year-old platanus tree is located. The town sees many tourists and plastic pollution is a big problem, like in most of Bulgaria. Soon there will be more discarded plastic bottles than pyramids here.
Melnik is a very nice place especially in connection with nearby nature (sand pyramids) and Rozhen monastery. You can get to the monastery via eco trail, where are really beautiful views from the top, when you climb up the small mountain between Melnik and Rozhen. Distance is of the hike is cca 6kms. The monastery is also one of the nice ones with good atmosphere (and we've seen a lot of them in Bulgaria). You definitely have to do also wine tasting in Melnik. The wine production has a very long tradition in Melnik and they make really good red wines in my opinion.
Melnik is a small city, visit for the weekend is just enough. It has museums and the fact that it is located around the nature makes it perfect for relaxation. There are many wine degustations and buying wine for home or present is not super expensive. You can find many home made jams, wines and other Bulgarian souvenirs.
No words to describe this beautiful place. Everything is perfect, way over everything you can expect in a small village near the border between Bulgaria and Greece. Attention to detail is flawless. The villa we were hosted in was spotless and superb. They even had amenities for our 5YO boy (shampoo and shower gel for kids), as they knew we were coming with a kid. Bonus points for the EV Charging Station available in the parking lot.

We absolutely loved our stay in the Manoleva house. The entire Manoleva family were warm, super attentive and helpful, always made sure we had everything we need. The house is amazing - beautiful view, spacious room, decorated with taste and little details. The rooms were super clean and had all necessary amenities. The breakfast was amazing - super delicious and in large quantities.
The staff was extremely friendly, nothing was a problem, they were all very helpful and kind. There’s a restaurant right in the facility’s with tasty and reasonably priced food (the prices were by far the lowest in the city comparing to the other bigger restaurants). Our room was spacious and clean.
Lovely homey stay in the centre of the small town of Melnik. The hosts were very welcoming, the room had a beautiful view, and great breakfast was included in the stay. We even got 10% off the hotel's restaurant as guests. Overall would highly recommend it!
Very beautiful hotel! Comfortable and spacious rooms! Beautifully arranged garden! The hotel is very clean, maintained and stylishly furnished! Very polite restaurant! Wonderful, delicious and rich breakfast!
Second time I stay here and I believe I will always choose this hotel in Melnik. I love the building and the interior. Comfortable parking and great location. Rooms are comfy. Nice vibe.
We felt very welcome at Hotel Slavova Krepost. The service is great, so is the location, the food and the wine. We'd love to visit again soon.
