A hidden gem of a city. Bulgaria's second city has a remarkable history, and the old town is full of Roman ruins and fascinating museums. Next to the old town is the Kapana area, a creative hub with a great selection of bars and restaurants. The city has facilities way beyond what you'd expect for a city of this size.

The city was beautiful and, so far, my favorite place besides Bansko on my month-long trip to Bulgaria. It's pretty hot in July, but cloudy days were nice to walk around; but sunny days, it was a bit too hot to walk all day outside.

Stayed at the hotel with a friend from Stockholm.
Stayed at the hotel with a friend from Stockholm. We came to see an opera at the Ancient theatre but arrived few days earlier to see the city as well.
The White House Hotel is perfectly located. Just two blocks from the ancient stadium and 6-7 minutes walk from the old town. The street is very quiet and being on a hill the hotel offers amazing views from the many windows and terraces. Rooms are clean and cozy, all different shapes and sizes, bathrooms -sparkling and modern. There is little garden with table and chairs where you could have a cup of coffee. The staff is wonderful! From the minute we arrived when we were kindly offered coffee up to the last day they would go out of their way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Special thanks to Neli and Elizabeth for making us feel at home!
The whole experience- the city, the amazing performance at the Ancient Theatre, the kindness of the people we met was incredible and we would definitely come back again!

Plovdiv is a beautiful city full of history and culture. However, I do not recommend in the summer as the temperatures get quite high. We generally did not venture out of the hotel between 10am and 5pm.

Plovdiv is it!
When planning a trip make sure to check opera schedule performed in the old Roman theatre !
Stunning how the town planned the ruins and implemented them into the town. To be used.
Not taped off.
Beautiful and longest pedestrian street in Europe and lovely historic old town with museums and churches galore.
Kampana district for restaurants and bars and meandering forever.
And a beautiful huge park to escape summer heat
I loved elegant and almost undiscovered Plovdiv

Plovdiv is a beautiful city, walkable (with hills), a lot of green spaces, interesting ancient and modern attractions, terrific restaurants / bars / cafes. It was named the Cultural Capital of Europe and walking through Plovdiv, it was easy to see why! We spent 6 nights and 5 days and covered almost all of the local sites - it could probably be done in 3 days / nights. However, we took our time and we will return again for some excellent Bulgarian hospitality. We had great meals at Pavaj close to Coco Guest Boutique hotel and at The Citizens Club in the old town. Both specialize in traditional Bulgarian food. Bunardzhik hill is worth visiting: walk up the road instead of the stairs, and ensure the look-off is “open”.
Very modern and all in room amenities provided. Minibar fridge, free bottled water coffee tee coffee machine, kettle, wine glasses, iron +ironing board, safe box. Lovely balcony with open view and terrace furniture. Slippers in room were also a plus. Extra pillow+ blanket. Better value for rate than many 5 star hotels. Staff is very helpful and friendly. RECOMMENDED!
The interior design of the room was super, details as well - lightning, furniture, bathroom facilities. I appreciate the fact that shampoo and body lotion products were from a Bulgarian brand producing cosmetics with roses. Location of guest house was super central, right between Kapana district and the old town. There are also parking options nearby.
A gem of a hotel. Small, family run quirky hotel in a fantastic location in the old town. Owner lovely & very helpful despite our very limited Bulgarian. Nice size room & good size bathroom with hot shower. Our friends came by car & the secure parking was a real bonus. So near to everything - museums/ Roman ruins / bars & restaurants
Excellent location of hotel , in the middle of the old town.Very good room , clean and with good facilities. The lady at the reception was extra kind and a great host. Car Parking was safe and well located close to the hotel.
Perfect location, hospitality and atmosphere. Very clean room and very good breakfast. Strong wifi. Car parking on old town street (close to hotel). Everything you need while traveling with family.
