Boasting a garden, Hostel Casa de Avany is located in Cachoeira. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. We were pleasantly surprised by this hostel which was a step into a well renovated and architecturally stunning example of a timeless building. The place is well decorated, stylishly furnished and most of all, it felt like a home. We were welcomed by the amazing owners with open arms and felt like its a place we wanted to be, and furthermore, wanted to go back to (which we have already made plans to do). Its in the most amazing location just metres from the river and the historical cobblestones of the historic centre. The restaurants we were recommended were some of the best food we have experienced in Brazil and were also, on the same street as the hostel. If you ever visit during Sao Joao, this is the place to be!! Many thanks guys, hope to see you back there soon Oh, and if breakfast is on offer, it will blow your mind!! So spoilt!!
Located in São Félix in the Bahia region, La Buena Vida Apartamentos provides accommodations with free WiFi. Spacious apartment. Nice design of the entire building in very good condition. Nice shared rooftop to stay and drink a beer with a nice view on the bridge. This all in a very beautiful town. The town also feels save to walk around.
Cachoeira is the most interesting town in Reconcavo Baiano. It lies 120 km from Salvador. The cathedral and the church Ordem Terceira do Carmo are among the best examples of Brazilian Baroque architecture. There are many beautiful 19th C houses. The town lies on the banks of Rio Paraguacu. A 19th century railway bridge, connecting Cachoeira to Sao Felix, is unique. It may be the oldest iron bridge surviving in Brazil. Cachoeira is a jewel that should be appreciated by more visitors. However, the lack of tourist hordes adds to its charm.
Nice town with old houses and churches, a lively market and an old bridge crossing the river to sao Felix. Nice bars near the riverside and restaurants in the street to the river. You can make a boat trip on the river and if you have a car you can go to the old convent in the neighborhood. If you want to visit this convent inside, you need to make an appointment.
Cachoeira is an interesting backwaters town, with man historical biuldings in a unique riverside setting. No tourists in sight. The town of Sao Felix, on the opposite reverbank is also lovely with an early morning fruits' market. The Dannemann Cigar Factory is open to the public for a visit.
