Georgetown
Kahari Resort, a Peace and Plenty Resort Property features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and bar in Georgetown. Kahari Resort is secluded on Great Exuma’s pristine barrier island, Stocking Island. At the Kahari Resort we explored nearby uninhabited islands. We had so much privacy and personalized attention. Each bungalow is nestled overlooking crystal clear water!!! It was truly an authentic private island luxury experience! Make sure you say "Hello!" to the property manager Kristin. She has been absolutely amazing. The food here was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE! 5 stars! My husband and I are foodies. We appreciate and love delicious foods from various cultures. We enjoyed every single thing we ate at the Beacon (resort restaurant). The chef created 5 star creations night after night. My favorite was the conk salad and the lamb rack. Our waiter was so kind and accommodating that we had blast every time we ate dinner. The food manager was so nice and friendly she even made sure we had the boat transport coordinated for our return trip back. We also enjoyed the delicious mahi mahi fish sandwiches at the beach club and they make stellar Bahama Mamas. The resort had plenty of amenities, it included snorkeling gear, kayaks, salt water pool, and quite a few things I forgot to mention. Most importantly the beaches at this property is second to none in Exuma. I thought Sandals Emerald Bay had a nice beach... the beaches at Kahari is AMAZING. If you've been to Chat N Chill, know this location is at the same island "Stocking Island". I can't imagine a beach that's better than Kahari's in Exuma. In the surrounding areas of the property we were able to see a sea turtle and star fish. Overall in this uncertain world we are now living in, I couldn't have picked a better place to maintain social distancing measures. I thank every single staff member at Kahari Resort for making our trip such a special one that we will never forget.

Beautiful beaches with incredible water colours within walking distance such a Jolly hall or a short boat ride away as in Starfish beach or Chat's N chill/ Elizbeth Bay, have a fresh seafood dish at the Splash Bar easy relaxed atmosphere or feel a little local at Shirley's or just a little more romantic at Franky Bananas or glamorous at Choppy & Cgnito's; if fish is not your thing, everybody will make you a tasty burger or grilled chicken breast or veggie/ pasta option. Do hire a boat in advance if you want to ride yourself around The all-day trip to see the sharks, swimming pigs, iguanas and cave is really worth it
Georgetown is a typical island town. The grocery store closes down fairly early and is closed Sundays, but there are various restaurants you can go to if you can't go to the market. The people are amazingly friendly an we never felt like we didn't belong. Don't expect Georgetown to be modern. It has some rundown buildings and the roads are not perfect, but you should look at it as a new experience and not a negative. I will definitely go back again someday.
It was in the heart of the island, you really get to know the locals there. Everyone was really nice. I would recommend Traveling both big Exuma and little Exuma. Rent a car and see the whole island. Make sure to visit Tropic of Cancer beach, truly breathtaking. Tropic and cancer grill and bar was the best food we ate there.
Minns boat rentals was awesome! Shirley’s at the fish fry was awesome. The beaches are incredible the water is even better. You have to rent boats there it is the only way to enjoy that area And see all the sights!!!
Central location about 15 minutes from the airport. Not a lot of shopping, but the straw market is great for typical souvenirs and t-shirts. There is also Sandpiper Arts with great beach wear and goods made by local artisans. Visit St. Andrews church which sits high on a hill giving you panoramic views of the town and water.
It is clear that the people who live in Georgetown have put effort into cleaning up Elizabeth Harbor and the streets of the town. They are proud of that effort. Don't expect downtown Tokyo or Singapore, but it is as clean or cleaner than my own hometown's waterways and several magnitudes above what it was even a decade ago. Try to remember that you are on an island when you go to the grocery store or eat out in a restaurant. You are not going to get a "deal" on anything except that tin of sardines or bottle of Bahamian rum at the liquor store. Get over it. You are on vacation!
The staff on the reception were really helpful, friendly and excellent service. Full of character and great location. Fantastic local restaurants within easy walking distance (make sure you visit Shirley's) and Georgetown a 30 minute walk. Accommodation quirky and fantastic ocean views
