Discover one of Belize’s most tranquil island escapes at South Water Caye. The island is tranquil and absolutely stunning. The cottages were comfortable and had amazing views. The staff were all incredible and so very accommodating to make us feel special and taken care of. Thank you Byron, Albin, Mello, Mike Susanna, Destiny and everyone else who we unfortunately did not the the names. Midstay we asked for another cottage (Kingfisher) since visitors had left and the staff helped arrange it immediately. and we also met the dogs and the cat. The highlight of the trip were the day trips with Captains Albin and Mello. They took us snorkeling (day and night), bird watching and swimming at gorgeous reefs and settings. The food was served fresh every day and we never got the same things twice. Lots of fresh seafood and local flavors. The private beach is the most amazing place and so peaceful and there were kayaks and paddle boards for our use. There is a reef right off the southern tip in which we swam with many kinds of fishes, stingrays, star fish, blow fish, crabs, lobster - you name it! The water is crystal clear and shifts in turquoise and blues and just sparkles and shimmers. The water is not as salty as expected which we liked and it has a very comfortable temperature. This vacation was so one none of us will forget and when real life back home gets stressful I will simply think back to South Water Caye. We will for sure come back soon again.

Stay here, if you have to (e.g. on the way to somewhere else). The town has nothing to offer and the beach really isn't nice (sand, but not the nice white one, and in the water it is shallow and muddy and there is garbage on the shore).
Dangriga isn't a huge town. Most people same to stay one night on their way to or from the cayes. You can probably walk most of the town in a day. A few good places to eat and to try Garifuna food. Tuani Garifuna and Island Breeze bar and grill are worth a try. Also took lunch at the Riverside Cafe. Try a smoothie from O's enterprises near the bridge on the corner of Havana Street. I was saddened by the amount of pollution along the beachside.
they need transportation or do not book. way out of town and there are Not NOT any bikes. false advertising. leaves you stranded a very long was from town. cabin is ok and beach front great and private. donot trust booking co to have cab at airport waiting.or one for trip back to airport.
Ate dinner at Islands, and a couple breakfasts at Riverside. Mostly used it as a launching spot to get to Tobacco Caye, which was amazing. Small town with lively, helpful people. There's a nice sea-side park with play equipment and a large decorative "Dangria" sign.
Laid-back little town. Very friendly locals, with the odd panhandler. Enjoyed fried fish at Alexi's and curry fish at Tuani Garifuna (accompanied by Garifuna drumming!) Recommend taking small denominations of American dollars, since change is given in Belizian dollars.
This was a one night stopover before going to the island with an 8:30 am start. Not much to the town but a good solution to our early morning start. Local people were friendly and helpful. There are limited eating places. We suggest you shop at the grocery store or eat before you get here.
I certainly recommend a room with a sea view, seeing the youngsters ride horses by the sea certainly added to the atmosphere. The room was good, comfy bed with a bed cover for additional comfort (much appreciated as in Belize it seems to be the norm to have just a sheet). TV, fridge in the room. Good location close to the local restaurant just over the bridge, also close to bus station. The hotel is right next to the beach, has its own little beach portion of sand just for guests and cleaner that the average of what could be seen in the area.
One of the few places to stay in Dangriga. Easy walk from the boat launch and to restaurants. Across from large park on the ocean. Spacious room; great AC; large comfy bed; clean; staff were helpful & friendly. I left my iPad there and didn’t realize it until the night after check out. They found it and held it for me until I was able to retrieve it 5 days later.
nice little island the Pelican Beach Resort shares with 2 other resorts. The island is ideal for snorkeling, kayaking (the resort offers the respective equipment) or simply relaxing in a hammock under the coconut palms. the staff is super friendly and helpful.
Dangriga
You basically have a private beach to yourself. The furnishings are relatively modern and the place is clean. Good price and value, which is hard to find in Dangriga.
The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is in a convenient location close to the centre and provides free coffee and bananas.
