Our host, Neil, was brilliant. So welcoming, friendly and accomodating. The rooms are lovely clean and spacious and are set in amazing grounds with walking trais on our doorstep. The best part though is the food. Neil is an amazing cook! The food was so delicious and definitely a highlight of the stay.

We absolutely loved Falling Leaves! Our room was beautiful, spacious, and the bed was super comfortable. We had a refrigerator and a nice patio. The grounds were gorgeous; the staff, especially Christiana and Sedacy were so attentive; and the restaurant had wonderful food, awesome drinks and happy hour! The view from the restaurant is spectacular and FL is next door to Cahal Pesh, which is a must visit Mayan Archeology Site, and a short walk from town. We would definitely come back to Falling Leaves!

We loved this place right along the river. It was about 3 miles from St. Ignacio so I recommend a car however, all the staff was beyond friendly. The meals were so delicious. The menu depended on what they caught that day so the dinners were fresh. Being right along the river was perfection. HIghly recommended!

The only thing that was horrific about this place was the hair braiding woman whose small shop is directly left from The Spot restaurant which is on the opposite side of the Venus hotel. The woman is violent. She gave us a big spill about how awful my daughters hair extensions were and that she would take it out and do it again. She said she would do it for 50USD. We accepted as she seemed like a nice lady but how wrong we were. She took the extensions out but then said she couldn’t remove the beads in my daughters hair and would need to leave them in. My daughter was horrified so I then had to bite every single one of them out myself. She then cut a three inch chunk of my daughters hair which is right on the crown. We told her we didn’t want her doing it and she bullied us to carry on. She then side platted my daughters natural hair and made a huge plaitted bump and then sowed the hair into the plait leaving a huge surplus of the hair extensions hanging. My daughter was so distraught and started crying and begged her to stop. She then took a 12 inch kitchen knife from her handbag and pepper spray on her key ring and said we must giver her the money. It was such a scary experience. Please please avoid this woman at all costs. We then complained to authorities whom explained she was mentally unstable. They wanted us to file a police report to have her arrested but we just wanted to leave the area.
Easy to navigate on foot. The market is a must see for especially the food that is available throughout the day. Just like any other place, be careful at night time when walking downtown. We did feel very safe. Have bug repellents ready at night.
Good spot to stay and commute to various tourist places in Western Belize-ruins, market, Guatemala border. Some of our destinations were far enough from San Ignacio that if I did the trip again, would have stayed closer to them versus commuting from San Ignacio
So many enjoyable and exciting activities! If you like jungles, are fascinated by Mayan history and archaeology, enjoy swimming under a waterfall, and relish the idea of challenging yourself spelunking 600 meters into a haunting, yet beautiful cave, San Ignacio is the place for you. It certainly was for us! Don't miss Caracol (unless you lack 4WD and an abundance of patience), the Green Iguana reserve, and the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave, but there is so much more...
Our favorite town in Belize. Really enjoy this part of the country and there are amazing Mayan ruins right in town! Xunantunich is a short drive away and the market on the weekend is a wonderful place to get fresh fruit, spices, art, or even touristy trinkets. There are several great spots to eat, so check out the local fare. Even if you don't stay there, head out to Vanilla Hills for an amazing breakfast in the rainforest.
Small town feel with lots of tours to offer. Most activities are for moderately fit people. Canoeing, zip lining, caving and climbing ruins. Most tours take all day. The heat was intense. The Belizean food was delicious. I liked the coconut fish and shrimp and tasty stewed chicken.
