Cardston was homey and welcoming! The Mormon Temple there is a beautiful Cardston landmark.
Re. our trip: We very much enjoyed the Kalispell area and beautiful Flathead Lake. Glacier National Park and the "Many Glaciers" area were awe-inspiring. We found Waterton Lakes in Alberta, Canada (especially the Prince of Wales Hotel) to also be a wonderful respite. Driving the Crowsnest Highway from near the Waterton area to the US border in the panhandle of Idaho (Bonners Ferry) was utterly breathtaking!

Cardston is a very cozy town located 15 min. of US - CAN border. If you are going to the Waterton Lakes National Park on the Canadaian side, Cardston is the place to be. The main attraction for me in Cardston was Dairy Queen, otherwise a nice and quiet neighborhood. If you are going to Glacier National Park, it would take around an hour just to get to the St. Mary gate from this town and then 1.5 hours of going to the sun in the wrong direction, so I would recommend a stay closure to the other side of the park, the east gate.
If you are going to both, I would suggest that you split your stay for easy access.

We went to the Remington Carriage Museum and loved our experience! The guides were fun and informative. We went to the Music Man -live theatre-and it was an exceptional performance.
We liked Dave's Drive In, Subway and DQ. We also had picnics in the park-we loved the picnic area behind the visitors' centre!
I went for a run around the LDS temple- it was beautiful!
We drove to Waterton Lakes for 3 days and enjoyed the drive and the walks we went on.
“For the price of a budget hotel room, we got a suite with a kitchenette and separate bedroom. The living area has a queen pull out sofa. The bedroom is very big, at least 12 x 20 and has 2 queen size beds. The beds were comfortable and new. We had good night sleep because the room was quiet. This room is fantastic value for a family. The carpet and furniture are new and clean.”
