GermanyA very quiet place, close to Dutch lake. Loved how clean everything was. The bedroom was wonderful, slept like a baby, even though I had some preconceptions about sous-terrain at first. The kitchenette is great, equipped with everything you need to prepare a good savory breakfast. Met the lovely host and got some amazing hints on different trails. Very valuable. Wished, I could’ve stayed longer.

This was just an overnight each way on way to Alberta.
This was just an overnight each way on way to Alberta. Good stop over if heading to Jasper or Hinton. Easy to get around with google maps. Had great Chinese food at Double Dragon Restaurant. Unfortunately it was just too hot out to hike around the town.

Lots to see and do: Wells Grey park waterfalls, scenery & wildlife. Good variety of accommodations and places to eat. Especially enjoyed stay at Across The Creek Cabins in the park and Wildflour Cafe by traffic circle in town. Grocery stores have lots of selection if your camping.

Staying in Clearwater is mainly for visiting Wells Grey Park and the beautiful waterfalls - especially Helmken Falls. The local BBQ restaurant called Hop "N" Hog was superb! Absolutely the best beef brisket and pulled pork we have ever eaten! The small restaurant called the "Painted Turtle" is a good spot for lunch. Right on the lake shore and good food.

We often stay in Clearwater on our way to and from Edmonton. It is a beautiful location and there are numerous choices for staying. Most of the smaller, older motels are updated, cozy accommodations.
Clearwater is a beautiful place to stay; we like to spend more time when we travel in summer.

Waterfalls were impressive.
Waterfalls were impressive. A hiking trail through old growth forest at Spahat Falls was a special treat. Good informative signage of the history of the area. New walk out deck, benches and fencing at Spahat Falls!

Too short. It was an overnight stay.
Too short. It was an overnight stay. Seems like a nice place. But the Ace Western Motel was not at all how it was posted on the site. Older photos on site. Our stay there was not pleasurable. Dirty bathroom and baseboards covered with dust. One of the queen beds if one person moved to get up the mattress flipped the other person out.

It was clean with nice views of the lake from our motel room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. It’s located a short distance from Clearwater, and within walking distance (5mins) if the Welks Gray Inn, where we ate twice, and had excellent meals. It’s extremely close to Wells Gray Provincial Park too.

Lovely peaceful site, no night time noise and a short stroll over road to Dutch Lake where we hired canoes and ate breakfast at the PaintedTurtle restaurant.
Communal bathroom was clean.
Great base for exploring Wells Park waterfalls, we also loved the white water rafting down Clearwater river and had a great meal at Hop n Hog.

Our first floor room was a good size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and provided with clean linen.
The bathroom was well stocked with a good shower.
Plenty of parking.
The hotel is perfectly located for visitors to the Wells Gray Provincial Park.
