Alt Hotel St. John's, Delta Hotels by Marriott St. John's Conference Centre, and Capital Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in St. John's.
The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.
We stayed at this hotel upon arriving at the airport at 2:30 am. Shuttle was waiting by the time we got to the pick up point. Great service. Friendly reception. Sufficient breakfast offerings. Great staff in all areas. Perfect for our needs. Unexpectedly, we spent a second night at the end of our trip when our flight to Toronto was cancelled. Again--great staff in all areas.
Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall. Very hilly, I will definitely be in better shape before my next visit (the unexpected humidity was exhausting, but we made the best of that!) Everything was close by, very easy to get around.
Best recommendation is: Take the Metro Bus from your hotel to the Pedestrian Plaza on Water Street for shopping and restaurants. It is closed off for the summer and the shopping is delightful. Lots of outdoor patios. We chose one of the outdoor pubs for fish and chips and a local brew. Perfect! Now walk up the stairs at the Courthouse and see the Jelly Bean Houses. Pier 10 is a great place to see the cruise ships docking. Just down the hill from Water Street, this is where the bus lets you off. Catch the Hop on Hop off for lots of sights - located outside of the Alt Hotel on Water Street.
St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place. If you love nature , it is the place for you , yet it also has great restaurants and nightlife and the people there are amazingly friendly and proud of their culture and province . There is a lot of talent from there and the art is amazing .So they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you the best experience ever. !
We enjoyed the friendliness of the people there, especially one taxi driver, Martin, a true Newfoundlander, whose many conversations with us were the highlight of our trip. Very good dining in restaurants around the harbor (not including our hotel), Lots to see: The Rooms, the harbor, Terry Fox Memorial,, Petty Harbor, Cape Spear, Jellybean Rows, etc. GREAT GREAT sea food dinners everywhere but (not our hotel). We liked everything in Newfoundland particularly the quaint, historic aspect of the city.
St. John's
Breakfast was a continental breakfast. This basically was a help yourself to the home owner's fridge scenario, which met our needs. The location is excellent, we could walk to downtown St. John's. The home is essentially a museum piece that the owner immaculately restored. The owner is also an antique collector of various genres and he will gladly provide a tour and history of his quite extensive collections.
St. John's
Warmth and welcome hospitality of our hosts. Beautiful, comfortable rooms (during our first stay at the beginning of our holiday in Newfoundland and also for our 2nd stay at the end of our holiday). We especially loved the Queen Spa Room. Breakfasts were casual, delicious & perfect for what we needed and the downtown location was awesome. Can’t wait to come back.
Being from British Columbia we looked forward to visiting all 10 provinces. St Johns was the last stop and we enjoyed both the hotel and the city. The staff were very accommodating and rooms were wonderful and spacious. The end of our cross Canada vacation was made perfect with a Lobster dinner at the Keg on the Docks. We couldn't have asked for more.
The location was excellent for doing a walking tour of downtown and harbor areas. The hotel is in a converted waterfront warehouse which meant the room had interesting characteristics and it was good-sized. The front desk staff was attentive and accommodating. There is plenty of free parking in front of the hotel.
Great downtown location. Excellent value for money. Quiet area but in a couple of minutes, easy walking to the hustle and bustle of the bars and restaurants. The hotel was modern and fresh. Clean and comfy. I seldom give a place full marks but the JAG deserves this. Well done!
Good clean room with ample space. Really good breakfast served by a friendly staff member. Laundrette was a bonus. Location not close to St. Johns downtown but as we had a car that was not a problem. Visits to Signal Hill and Cape Spear were memorable. Good size car park.
Centrally-located with comfortable rooms - spacious and quiet, with original decor. The staff were very helpful, especially after booking-com had somehow mixed-up our reservation. Everyone was courteous and friendly - an excellent introduction to Newfoundland hospitality.
Finally a hotel that had a kettle we could borrow for instant meals! Clean room, comfortable beds, lots of towels. Loved the look of the hotel, especially with the muskoka chairs provided outside. About 10 mins from the downtown with a lot of amenities close by.
The hotel is modern and situated in the heart of downtown. We had beautiful views of the Harbour from our room. Access to restaurants and local attractions was very easy and quick. The room was wonderful and had some nice amenities like automatic blinds.
We stayed in this hotel for two night at the start and end of our trip. The place is clean, staff are friendly and location is a short walk (or drive) to restaurants and shopping. About 5km to downtown St John’s - which we walked.
The hotel was lovely with a great view. It was close to downtown shopping and bars and restaurants. The breakfasts were delicious with very friendly staff.
the property was very clean and very comfortable. I will be staying at this property all the time I have to be at a hotel it was the best experience
