Graham was a great host, the hot tub and path behind the building was great for stat gazing. We also loved the VW sculpture and the fact that it was dog friendly. The magic door was really unique and laundry on site was great too.

Location is fabulous. We had 2 rooms -1 downstairs and 1 upstairs. downstairs suited husband who has a bad hip.. The view from balcony upstairs was amazing. A stunning picturesque view in the morning with a cuppa.. Big rooms and beds are extremely comfortable. Restaurant 1909 on site which was lovely. The 1.5 hr seaplane flight with Atleo was excellent - stop at a remote lake for a swim, see the coast, the interior, - just excellent. Food was disappointing - by the sea yet very few served seafood that focused on the seafood - the focus seemed to be on having as many flavours as possible
It is an adventure type of trip. Huge trees, beaches are amazing, views, sunsets, and it has a feel of being a long ways away from just another tourist trap. The drive in is long and winding and you have to be really careful. Try to not arrive after dark as the highway has many tight curves that add to the risk. It is a fantastic getaway though, and the effort to get there and back is worth it. Try to stop at a few of the rest stops or parks along the way as they are really worth it.
Mainly the highway construction was a major setback. They had a 2 hour window to let vehicles through, but this was not honoured fully. We spent over 6 hours waiting for the highway to open. It was to open at 5 and then was still delayed for over an hour. Because we had only had 2 days to spend there it turned it into one. We should have planned a little differently, but these things happen
Loved the samll town, it offers so much to do. It is a bit expensive for lodging, normal for high tourists areas. So make to do and see. We enjoying walking on Long Beach, Cox Bay and really all over the main are. Highly recommend a visit to Tofino!
The Inn at Tough City was quintessential Tofino: friendly, knowledgeable staff and a spectacular harbor view. Parking sucks so what a relief to get an early check in and stop worrying about a ticket. Food can be a challenge midweek as restaurants closed. Ended up eating at the same place twice in one day and the second time was for takeout - an hours wait to sit. That being said, co-ops are open and would have been easy enough to pick up food there. 'Locals' from throughout the world are very happy to call Tofino home and it adds so much to the experience.
We visited Tofino when the main hwy to go there was closed due to forest fires. We took the detour routes which was very stressful and took a lot longer to get to Tofino. But, once we got there the trip was well worth it! Love Long Beach the most. Everything about Tofino and Ucluelet are a great experience. We loved them both.
