CanadaWe had a great three day stay at Captain Dan's modern cottage.
the cottage was terrific in all aspects: spacious, bright, quiet, well equipped, good location, keypad entry, lovely deck and garden.
Parking was on site, wifi was strong, shower had good pressure, washer and dryer came in very handy.
Comfortable beds, quality linens, plentiful towels, immaculately clean. Captain Dan was a good communicator which made everything very easy.
Highly Recommended.

if you are looking for quiet and ocean front hikes this...
if you are looking for quiet and ocean front hikes this place is perfect. I would highly recommend for biking as well. It is really quiet and once the sun goes down there is not much to do and the temperature dropped quickly. Also, very few amenities on the island so plan accordingly.

Welshpool is a small cluster of houses with a great little library/museum. The museum has original letters written by Franklin and Elanor Roosevelt as well as many interesting artifacts. Welshpool is centrally located for easy access to Roosevelt Park, lighthouse, ferry from Deer Island, golf cours, and the few stores and restaurants on Compobello

Welshpool is a mile from the Roosevelt International Park.
Welshpool is a mile from the Roosevelt International Park. I would have been happy to spend another day or two walking the trails and cottage roads in the park, and the amenities in the park were great. We enjoyed touring the Roosevelt Cottage, attending "Tea with Eleanor," and having a delicious lunch in the Prince Cafe. The docents in the park were all friendly and informative. There are so many amazing vistas in the park and the none were crowded. The fact that it is all free is amazing; donations are accepted and appreciated.
We stayed at Friar's Bay and had a good lunch at the Porch in Friar's Bay as well. We had hoped to take a whale watching tour but the boat doesn't run on Tuesday. We looked for but didn't see any whales from the shoreline. We did see eagles, though.
We also enjoyed going out to visit Head Harbour Lightstation during low tide and searching for seaglass on several of the local beaches, especially Pollock Cove. Campobello Island is small but beautiful, and it is a relaxing place to spend a couple of days, especially after fighting the crowds in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Our stay was fine.
Our stay was fine. The restaurant, The Porch, had hits and misses. Lovely staff, espresso machine but eggs were cooked on too hot grill and were burnt, overcooked. Home fries puffy, frozen type. Toast excellent. If they hired a cook who could cook, it would be a great improvement.

The village of Welshpool was great, a clean and picturesque...
The village of Welshpool was great, a clean and picturesque little sea side community, There are a couple of good restaurants and a few sights to see such as the Roosevelt House, whale watching tours and/or fishing, beaches and a small golf course. It is perfect for quiet, laid back kind of stay.

The island is awesome... lots of sights to see....
The island is awesome... lots of sights to see.... The people treat you like family. getting around the island is very easy as wqell as crossing into the USA is very easy and accessible. Definatly an island you want to visit with its rich history and connections to USA.
