Offering an outdoor pool and views of the pool, Mikhael's Hotel is set in Brazzaville. The room was very large, the staff very pleasant, everything worked. Breakfast was excellent, a wide variety of food, very pleasant atmosphere, and they open very early (05.30). The bar on the first floor was lovely and the artwork on the ground floor was outstanding. It was one of the most pleasant hotel stays I have had in a long time.

Illumination is excellent, room lights are a plus. General cleanliness of the room itself: zero bugs. Spacious, I loved the walking space in the room. Room Furniture: the office space is very comfortable and appropriate for work and mini meetings. Outside the room, there is a space on each floor with a dining table where you may also improvise meetings if needed. I loved the toothbrush+toothpaste detail and the shower gel and shampoo. Internet works well too. Daytime staff quite friendly and courteous.

Traffic was not as bad as in Kinshasa. But officials were just as corrupt and demanding of bribes as Kinshasa. Peaceful on the surface, many human rights abuses by government make life hard. Religious liberty and civil rights quite restricted.
Shocking service by immigration officials at the airport. I was 'detained' for THREE hours, for absolutely no reason. All my paperwork and visa was in order, but they clearly were angling for a bribe. They would not answer any questions but just instructed me to sit quietly on a chair in the corner of the immigration area for three hours. Nothing to eat or drink. No access to ablutions. SHOCKING. Eventually, I had to call a local customer to come and negotiate with the officials.
Definitely a place to visit. Especially the new corniche on the Congo river. It is a special and great sightseeing. It is not just a natural frontier between the two Congo republics but also it separates the capaitals, Brazzaville and Kinshasa.
