Hyperion Hotel Basel

Hotel in Basel City Centre, Basel

In Basel's tallest habitable building, the Hyperion Hotel Basel is next to the Basel Messe trade fair center and just a short walk from the Old Town. It offers a sauna and a fitness center. Staffs are well trained and helpful. When we came back from outside, we found that no house keeping has been made. I made a request to front desk as we needed new set of towels and mini bar to be refilled (I love it). I was not sure as it was in the evening , but they sent someone to do the things while we were out for dinner without making any comments. Actually there was a reason for that naturally leads to such occasion, which I have to describe as a shortcomming.

We always book a room for our parents here and they always enjoy their stay. We pressed them hard to tell us one bad thing about the hotel and they cannot come with any. So I guess we’ll continue the tradition. ;)

FAQs about hotels in Basel

Switzerland Through the Ages

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant, with Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.

Augusta Raurica, on the outskirts, has a well-preserved Roman theater, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colorful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.

When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.

The Basel accommodations on Booking.com range from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March, you might just catch Fasnacht, Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to catch the 4 am start, though!
