Gstaad is a beautiful township, but we stayed in Schönried at the hotel Ermitage, which is incredibly beautiful and the great value for the money. Main purpose of our visit was skiing and skiing at Schönried is fabulous. We ate in the hotel and the food was exceptional.
Quiet with traditional buildings. Very tourist oriented, kept squeaky clean and picture postcard perfect. A variety of restaurants, mostly Swiss or Italian, but very little vegetarian food. Lots of very accessible hiking trails and bike paths.
This is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. If you're looking for a winter wonderland with many good restaurants, access to winter sports, and quaint villages - then this is for you. It is extremely expensive though, just worth mentioning :)
Great restaurants, for almost every taste and price. Great place to go any time of the year for activities such as horseback riding, mtb, road biking, jogging, trekking, river rafting, etc are available off ski season...friendly people too.
We loved the room, enjoyed a very comfortable bed and great WiFi. Recreational activities and daily recommendations by staff for things to do were appreciated. We were there for the cow descent which was fun. Pleased with the staff recommedation for a hike to see the glass house a short train ride away. An extra bonus was the picnic they provided for our hike.
A charming beautiful little town surrounded by mountains with a great array of luxury shopping hot spots along the cobblestoned streets. Wooden chalet style hotels, restaurants and bars add to the magic. This is what you imagine when you think of Switzerland. Well worth a long weekend away to escape any big city and we recommend a stay at the Gstaad Palace.
Overall the trip was good except in one night my 5 year old woke up in the middle of the night hungry, went down to reception but no one was there. I called the number they left on the desk and the lady told me she is 20 minutes away from the hotel and no staff stay there overnight. This was shocking for me that no one from the staff stays overnight in a 4 star hotel; I find this concerning; what is there is a fire or someone having heart attack.... For this reason I will choose another hotel in my next trip.
The hotel is in the best location, it’s opposite Gstaad train station and right next to the main promenade with all the bars, restaurants and shops. Our room had an amazing view and the staff were extremely helpful and gave some excellent recommendations on where to eat, drink and ski. The Spa was also top notch! As well as the hotel’s chalet interior design and parking.
Beautiful ski/spa resort hotel with modern interior unlike any of the ski hotels in the area. Nice spa facilities, indoor pool, subdeck and well equipped gym. Extensive buffet breakfast and pretty good bar food as well for the evenings. Most views have a great view over the valley and mountains
Value for money, kleen -what is important to us. Just what we and our friends wanted this time. Independence from a shedule as an hotel will be. We can recommend this place and will come again if in Gstaad that we know well. All of us are experienced globetrotters with ecomomic independence.
Location is perfect to explore this wonderful mountain area. Breakfast was excellent, especially various local cheeses and different kinds of fresh fruit. Hotel restaurant is also great with many tasty dishes and extensive wine selection. Staff is super helpful, Swiss hospitality at its best.
Lauenen bei Gstaad, Gstaad
Breakfast was good and plentiful, though because we were hiking to the next village, we wished it started a bit earlier. Staff was lovely, and the hotel is charming. I loved opening my window to hear the sounds of the children playing at the nearby schoolyard, and breathe the fresh air.
