Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Villa de Maître offers accommodations in Martigny-Ville. Free private parking is available on site. Virtually everything. It is an esthetically wonderful experience--an early 20th century grand villa, beautifully restored but also invigorated space. Comfortable and genuinely inspiring. The host was very correct and welcoming in the just-post-Covid confinement--all hygiène measures in place, reduced number of guests etc. He gave some terrific tips on where to eat and hike that were just right. But really, go for the experience of a sensitive yet modern restoration and the chance to live well. And the world's best bathtub in my room as well as original art.

We were stunned & delighted with the extensive Roman excavations & displays of artifacts in the museum. Also delighted with the Rodin/ Giacometti / classic car exhibition. Again delighted with the Da Vinci display which was as good as that in the Washington Smithsonian!
Well , how to explain the beauty !!! All around are the stunning mountains! The streets are so clean , a marvellous array of shops, parks , things to do , one could easily spend a week in Martigny.
Lovely city; lots of shops and boutiques; lots of art and cultural activities including great impressionist museum, Roman ruins, castle and Barryland (traditional St. Bernard dogs museum). Tourist Info center very helpful.
Well worth a stopover rather than just driving by. The exhibitions at the Pierre Gianadda Gallery are always worth seeing and the permanent collections of Roman finds, vintage motor cars and the lovely sculpture garden are well worth a day visit. The cafe in the garden is good for lunch. Adjacent is the well preserved Roman amphitheater.
I know Martigny well. Very centrally located to many sites in the Canton of the Valais. One of the best museums in the world (and no, I don't exaggerate! A very doable museum and the exhibitions are world class.) Many ski areas within an hour's drive, spas as well - what's not to like.
Enjoyable, friendly village to visit with excellent views to enjoy along the Rhine Valley. So picturesque! Wines are very enjoyable too at the Wine Bar, point 28 on the tourist map. The Crepes restaurant across the street was very popular with tasty crepes and lots of choice. Seeing the old Roman baths was a highlight too. Lots of interesting statues on the roundabouts.
Big rooms with nice modern design. Well equipped bathroom. Comfy bed. Great views on the Castle. Parking
