Tip: Carry water/snacks from Coop at Meriengen (short stop before going forward to Gadmen). The lodge experience is truly calming. Anna at the reception and the rest of the staff are a delight. They would go lengths to make your stay comfortable. We had booked for 8 people but the other family became sick hence only our familiy of 4 reached the lodge. Anna updgraed us to a large room for 4. Room was quite spacious with a splending mountain view. The whole village was covered under snow and the peace of the Alps was all encompassing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the snow. The dinner at the restaurant was quite good. We had Rosti, Alpiner pasta and chicken wings with fries (finger licking fries). It is recommended that you do have the dinner at the lodge. We would surely want to come back. Thanks Anna for making our stay a delight.

Clean, friendly, excellent service, newly renovated, excellent location, great value for money. Perfect, would like to stay again.

A stroke of luck that we stayed here as I had originally been planning to cross the Sustenpass. As it was closed, we rerouted to the Grimsel, but it was very worth the detour up the valley to stay here. The building is in a quiet hamlet set back from the road, with a ring of mountains visible from the front. Rooms are modern and plainly but sympathetically furnished. Breakfast was excellent and our host very friendly, tempting us back with a map of all the things we were not able to see this time around.
