Carina - Design&Lifestyle hotel

Hotel in Zermatt

Carina - Design&Lifestyle hotel is an 8-minute walk from the center and the Zermatt Train Station, and 755 feet from the Zermatt Funicular. It offers a lounge with an area for playing and a fireplace.... We had the 3 rooms penthouse and it has a excellent view of Matterhorn and the staff is very friendly. Ms Shallin went out of her way to make sure everything was OK and even tried to fix the TV connection for us. My son enjoyed the sauna at the basement and there is complimentary coffee/tea, some bread and fruits near reception area.

ALPINA budget rooms

Hotel in Zermatt

Dating from 1903, this traditional hotel offers a quiet location in the center of Zermatt. The main street can be reached in a 2-minute walk. Breakfast was at the new hotel overlooking Matterhorn on a clear day, with lots more variety than the usual continental breakfast such as hard boiled, scrambled eggs (overcooked), sausages bacon baked beans, variety of bread and cereal with juices, milk and coffee machine. There is an old lift in the Alpina building. Service recovery was good on 2 front, 1) when they did not have my booking of my first night, added on through booking.com and email, and 2) when they offerred to collect a room key which I did not realise I didn't return by the time I checked out. Facilities/room has a old charm which I liked and was looking for, instead of new facilities, and I hope they maintain this building for many more years to come. Had a very strong swiss vibes. My single room could only see the tip of Matterhorn on a clear day, but I knew this was not the property for viewing Matterhorn. Doors and windows could be opened to step into a balcony or air the room when it got became too warm. The new lights on the pavement leading up to both the new hotel and hotel Alpina, felt that it was a nice touch aesthetically.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Zermatt. Breakfast was super-tasty. The staff was kind and helpful. House has over 125 years, you are living in some historic place, but it is super comfortable. Strongly recommended
