I've had the most amazing and warmest welcome anyone could dream of , mama mireka is such a beautiful human , so kind and caring Her son engi and her daughter in law were so considerate and kind , brought me some breakfast and drove me to the airport as well as helped me sort out some issues I had with the airlines And they kept checking on me until I landed in my next destination The place was really nice and spacious and had all what one needs ... We absolutely loved the private and homelike feel. Tucked away on the back road but super close to all that we needed. Last minute, we requested an extra night’s stay and the staff were so accomodating and helpful in making this happen. Staff were fast to respond and made us feel incredibly welcome. We will be booking Atupa Suites on our next Rarotonga stay.

This was a beautiful bungalow right on Muri Lagoon but seemed very private. The villa was separated from passers by with a nice hedge and vegetation that did not block your view. Nice lounge chairs on both the deck and the beach, along with a dining table. Very clean with a nice kitchen and large refrigerator and welcome fruit basket. Bathroom was large and modern with a beautiful shower. Great WIFI. Eugene stopped by during his work day to check on us and promptly answered his phone when I called. Great Cook Island hospitality! Try the food across the street at Takatimu's Tapas & Takeaways. It is incredible!

Beautiful area where you can get to everything simply by driving. Shipwreck hut in Araroa. Aorangi fish / chips. Palace burgers. Rarotonga bakery. Would highly recommend @Tumutours across the road for an authentic cultural experience, combined with delicious food and entertainment.

This is a good area, it's not to busy with tourist.

This is a good area, it's not to busy with tourist. You might feel your left out from all the fun places. But if you have your own transport or you don't mind using the public transport then your not far from anything at all. Your on the right side of the island for the sunset, go next door and have a drink at the resort bar on the beach while the sun sets in front of you.

My partner and I personally feel that Arorangi is better...

My partner and I personally feel that Arorangi is better than the Muri area. The roads are a bit rougher and less maintained, but the lagoon and snorkelling is by far superior! We loved hanging out at the Aroa Marine Reserve which is by The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Spa. We swam with turtles almost every day - they just cruise past you. PLEASE DO NOT touch the turtles and respect their space - we always stayed at least an arms length from them or further away. I was sad to leave Rarotonga, we were there for 11 nights and it was just right. Not too long, not too short. The water seems way saltier than NZ water. The water quality is great and so clear in some places. The temperature of the water - WOW!!! Pretty warm and it was amazingly pleasant to swim in there. We went middle of March and it was perfect. Please never forget to apply reef-friendly sunblock even on your face as the UV rays can reflect on your face in the water. I burnt my face the first day I went snorkelling and the back of my legs - I learnt fast. The sun is not as harsh as the NZ sun though.

Snorkelling is excellent in this area.

Snorkelling is excellent in this area. The sunsets are gorgeous and it's the perfect spot for whale watching in the evening too (between April - Oct). Arorangi is pretty and has some good restaurants, bars and great coffee at Beluga cafe :-)

We had a great stay here.

We had a great stay here. We had a car, which meant that we could make the most of the whole island of Rarotonga, which was great. It was better to go about 5 minutes drive down the road to go snorkeling, so we drove every day and if we hadn't had a vehicle it would have been a bit more restrictive. We got around the

Some lovely snorkeling, the turtle tour with Aqua Oz Turtle...

Some lovely snorkeling, the turtle tour with Aqua Oz Turtle Man was a huge highlight for us. Saw a lot of Green Turtles and this was superb with the whole family. Shame the reef seems to be damaged and the local hotels don't even stock reef safe suncream, we did find some in Muri but disappointing to see that locals are not promoting reef care. People are standing all over the reef. Cook Islands should invest in providing more reef care information to tourists. Also quite a lot of litter around, which is a shame as it is a beautiful island. We stayed for 10 days with kids this was probably 3 days too long. As adults alone we would have found some extra activities like cycling around the whole island and the cross island hike.

Our hosts Stan and Angela were outstanding. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay. It is a very roomy villa, with high ceilings and the bedrooms are the size of your average hotel room. The location is fantastic being close to town, many options for eating and we saw numerous whales from our sun lounges by the pool. Highly recommend and we will be back!

Exceptional value for money with all the facilities you’ll need for your Rarotonga beach holiday. The pool is exceptional with beach access a mere two minutes walk away. Many restaurants within easy walk g distance from the property as well. There’s also a little convenience store at the end of the driveway across the road. Handy for those too items you may need.
