We enjoyed the laid back life style and general pace off life on the island. The food is great and so is the entertainment. We particularly liked Saigon Shack. We hired an AVIS rental car which was a bit of a rattly, rough and ready vehicle. Getting around the island is very easy with Buses so rental car was not absolutely necessary. Loved the fresh fish meals available at several restaurants.

We loved the Paws & Claws, Shannon deserves support for her tireless devotion to the small animals she protects. We really enjoyed the food at the Lucky Rooster and the take away at the Super Brown nearby.
We also enjoyed eating at the Muri Night Market twice.
Read 4 books. It would be helpful if the tourist info in Avarua knew where to get used books.

Rarotonga is a beautiful small island with towering...
Rarotonga is a beautiful small island with towering mountains covered in lush vegetation and ringed by a reef protecting sparkling clean lagoons perfect for swimming and snorkelling or other water based activities.. Some gorgeous coral beaches and its easy to walk amidst the coral at low tide so bring some reef shoes. It's only about 1.5 hrs to drive around and easy to rent a car. But buses run clockwise and anticlockwise continuously around the island so also easy to catch, Quite a few happy people enjoying getting around on E-Bikes too. the locals favour scooters, but you need a license to rent these. From Late July to Late October humpback whales migrate past the island and if you go to the right places you will see them easily with the naked eye. At Club Raro Resort you can see them just 200m offshore from the terrace where you can sit with your coffee. Great coffee from nice cafes - try brunch at Beluga or the BeachComber or watch the sun set at Trader Jacks whilst sipping a cold beer. Walk in the stunning Maire Nui tropical Gardens and sample their famous cheesecake. Eat at the night markets at Muri beach or enjoy the bustle and fun at the Avarua Saturday morning markets - there's something for everyone. Visit the unique Tivavae gallery where traditional Cook Island quilts, sewn by local women artisans are displayed and can be purchased. Rarotonga is a quiet, laid-back place , still with lots to do. It is exceptionally clean and litter-free so do your part to see it stays this way. It is a family friendly place but perfect for couples too. One of the nicest, most relaxing places I have ever visited.

Going to Rarotonga on a long weekend. AIthough it has it's pluses. The shops are all closed but you can chill out and rest before they open.

The Home was perfect for my family and I.
The Home was perfect for my family and I. My grandson absolutely loved the pool. So relaxing to come back to after a busy day exploring beautiful Rarotonga. Spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds, excellent stock of beach towels, bathing towels and bed linen. Apart from the dogs barking and roosters going off morning and evening, it was absolutely wonderful and would definitely come back to the home again in the future.

The property is so beautiful! Comfy, quiet, spacious, clean and scenic. Easy walk to the beach and down the road from The Rarotongan. This is a must-stay if you're looking for something more than just a hotel room. The pool is fantastic on those super hot afternoons too!
Hosts are so wonderful, kind and helpful.
You may want to get a car or scooter to get around quicker but the bikes are great to cruise around on and you can flag down the bus at the end of the road
Thanks Jaime and Jason again for everything!
Amazing atmosphere at Club Raro, superb staff who are always cheerful and happy to enhance your holiday experience. The hotel has a great layout, a fantastic bar area and a lovely restaurant. The rooms are quite basic, however they are really clean. The hotel is a perfect base to explore the island and offers value for money. This was our first visit to Cook Islands, however we will definitely visit again (soon) and we plan to stay at Club Raro again!
This was our 7th trip to Rarotonga, 1st at Palm Grove and I highly rate it and will most definitely stay again in the future. We stayed in a beachfront villa, location was amazing, snorkelling out the front was the best we’ve experienced on the island. Staff super friendly and helpful.
Location to beachfront ideal. Good proximity to Wigmores Supermarket, easy drive to Muri Beach and a few nice restaurants. Great snorkelling at Fruits of Rarotonga.
