Santiago is a typical South American . I would not stay for to long . You can do a day trip to Valparaiso and enjoy the seaside town . There are some nice restaurants in the center . I like the area of Lastarria for the vibe and the nice restaurants . Do get a sense of the city I recommend to book a city tour at your first day.
Santiago is a beatifull and expensive city - beware of the wrong impression of the low $ CPL price, as you can't do anything with $ CPL 1 (things always cost in multiples of 1,000). Another downside is: downtown was severely affected by the 2019 protests - downtown looks dirty + lots of graffiti
Wonderfull mix of old and new architecture, large and vibrant city parks. Great restaurants all very affordable, no matter how upscale. The metro is also a great way to get around fast while experiencing the city, taxi's are also great - but I always prefer the metro!
Santiago itself is basically a big city, and at this time of year it is quite polluted - you can see the tick haze as your plane comes in. The central part is relatively easy to get around, especially in the vicinity of the metro line. The city has seen quite a few demonstrations this year, with a major (and positive) change of national government. Most tourists would get around by taxi or metro, but be aware Santiago drivers are typically aggressive and fast, and do not feel particularly safe. If getting a taxi from the airport, go through the 'official' desks on arrival as there are apparently many touts and you may feel mobbed once you leave arrivals. At present face masks are still compulsory in places like shops, public transport, and as you go into a restaurant (but not once you've sat down!). You will need to show your 'MeVacuno' pass to enter a restaurant or some other premises, and may well have your temperature taken. The pass is checked in most places I went into in Santiago, unlike the other part of the country I went to on this trip (Punta Arenas).
Santiago is a city that offers a wide variety of restaurants and culture. Nevertheless it should be seen as a place from where to keep travelling to other areas of Chile. 4 days in Santiago are enough. The mountains, the beaches, the desert, the lakes, forests and glaciers are waiting for you.
Stay out of Chile until they lift Covid restrictions and civil unrest settles down. Even when we jumped through all the hoops to get the mobility pass and c19 we were detained and not allowed entry. They took my passport and treated me like a criminal because There was a typo on the one of our lab tests. I lost about 10,000 usd because everything you book is not refundable, as well as a year on naïve planning thinking it would go smoothly if I crossed my t’s and did all their requirements. I have friends who went on a different trip and were car jacked and detained in a beetle infested compound there trying to leave Santiago from a typo on one of their tests . It’s just not worth the risk!!!!go to Argentina instead or just wait till things settle down. Worse trip ever!
This is our first time in Santiago. We had a very reasonable rate for the weekend. After 4 weeks of travel around southern Chile we were ready for a little hotel luxury. Our room & bed were great. There’s a nice hotel restaurant where we ate outside the first night. The cafe was convenient for breakfast and the staff was very friendly. We stored our bags here for the afternoon while waiting for our evening flight. Front desk and entry staff were very nice. All was easy and comfortable which is why we chose this hotel.
Our room was superb, a corner Executive, although the lack of an evening "turndown service" when fresh towels are brought was disappointing. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. The location is possibly the best in Santiago, midway between downtown and the large Shopping Mall under South America's tallest building. A metro station is very near the hotel, although we actually walked everywhere. Overall, it was very good value for what we paid.
A short ride from the airport to the hotel. Located in an area that made commuting easy. Access into and out of the hotel is closely monitored with a gated entrance and exit. There is restaurant located within the hotel and they serve a very nice free breakfast. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The bed is comfortable and the rooms are well kept. The staff is helpful and most can converse in English.
Gorgeous renovated boutique hotel with welcoming staff in the best location in Santiago. Loved the early arrival service and the free 4-6 pm delicious snacks in the lovely garden view cafe. An excellent breakfast with Good Italian coffee and individually cooked hot breakfast. 3 min walk to Lastarria restaurants and 8 mins to the santo Christibel via Bellavista the wall art and nightclub district
This is the best experience when I travel in Latin America. The apartment is very clean and all the devices for in the kitchen are very fully equipped. The cost is only 40usd for one night and the location is in downtown with free parking lot. So convenient and highly cost-effective! And the staff are very nice and helpful. I will book this hotel again when I travel to Chile next time!
This was a great place to stay for a lower price than most of the surrounding hotels. The staff was friendly; many didn't speak English, but they were always willing to connect me with someone who could. Plus, the room was HUGE! It's very close to the downtown area. This was a great place to stop for a night on my way to my next destination.
Our room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. View of the street was good. The room was quiet. We could walk to many of Santiago’s best attractions. The hotel staff were very helpful and their English was good. Breakfast was good and we had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. The lobby was spacious and has lots of seating.
The location is great for those looking to stay near the airport. The Holiday Inn across the street from the airport is really expensive, but this hotel is much cheaper AND offers free shuttle to and from the airport. There's also free breakfast and great wifi. I would really recommend this place to anyone!
Beautiful boutique hotel in a great location just blocks from major museums and culturally important places. Absolutely wonderful staff- most helpful and friendly of our entire 3-week tour of South America. I should single out Ricardo, Eli and Gabriel in particular and wish them the best.
Super convenient hotel for a stop over in Chile. Two minute walk as soon as you exit the airport. Incredibly quite considering it’s right next door to an airport & very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again when I’m next in Chile.
I loved this beautiful boutique hotel, in a very nice and safe area. Very nice and lovely room, and the best was the nice swimming pool on the roof with an amazing view for the sunset. Hotel highly recommended!
Best value ever for a hotel with a 24-hour doorman! English-speaking staff, nice lounge, good a/c, liked the decor and lions out front. Walkable from Centro Puerto (airport) bus final stop
We stayed 2 nights in Santiago and 2 days in Marriot. 100 % choose Santiago, its tatally another level service ...! Probably the best hotel to stay in Santiago ..!!
A very stylish boutique hotel in nice/hipster neighborhood of Santiago. Rooms are small, but nicely decorated and extremely new.
