    Guiyang is an interesting city.

    Guiyang is an interesting city. Most people visit only to then leave and venture into the countryside. However, the city itself is worth a few days, especially if you are interested in exploiring off-beat small local bars and restaurants (foreigner friendly and with international food options).

    It was a nice place, and the people were very polite.

    It was a nice place, and the people were very polite. The water slide park was great, but make sure you are aware there are restrictions for those over 90 kg. And the hot water spa is pay separately. I went on the most scary rides and couldn't wait to go again! The caves, about 45 mins away are spectacular. Best not to take children under 7 as they will get bored and tired since the cave walk is very long (45 mins). Perhaps not perfect if you are heavily pregnant or have difficulty walking. The zip slide was awesome! There is a wetland park for nature lovers and ornithologists. I didn't go but plan to next time. I self drove and the driving is quite safe and courteous. Some car hire companies take the International Permit. I have a Chinese DL and hired from a Chinese company. The service was excellent. The best way of communicating to all service providers is We Chat. They can send you locations, advice and instructions. Its virtually indispensable now.

    Fascinating city with lots of atrractions including nearby provincial park that can be reached by high-speed train followed by bus or taxi tour. Center square has intriguing combination of statue to Mao Tse-Tung mounted on a terrace that serves as a roof for a large Walmart store beneath. Local residents were extremely friendly and helpful. Dining at a curbside restaurant was an adventure that worked out well through pointing and intervention of local English-speaking student. This is China's heartland. Experience it!

    i think there is a lot to see in Guizhou Province, but not...

    i think there is a lot to see in Guizhou Province, but not especially in Guiyang. There are only few parks with nice views that you can find anywhere else in China and nothing more. Transportation is awful, subway is connecting only guiyangbei and guiyang railway station, but not thw scenic spots. People are nice but when they see white faces they overpricing. It is better to visit neighbouring provinces like Guangxi or Sichuan.

    I didn’t see much because I was only staying overnight to catch a train. It was full of modern buildings that looked the same as anywhere else though also with very rundown crowded residential quarter. Saw nothing that made me want to stay.

    Lucian on the front desk was absolutely wonderful, he welcomed us with a big smile, explained the layout of the hotel and was available throughout our stay for anything we needed. The hotel is connected to a shopping centre with plenty of local restaurants and some western options such as Pizza Hut. We tried the miss shiwawa on the 3/4th floor which was really nice. The room was beautiful and very comfortable.

    First day of our trip breakfast was a little cold and not much re-stocking of food was done. when my husband mentioned it, the management got staff motivated and rest of breakfast meal were 5 star. The same thing the first night we had buffet and this time we wrote a list. wow we were treated like royalty from then on and everything and some extras were done for us.
