It was an amazing trip for me and my 3 girls.

It was an amazing trip for me and my 3 girls. We didn't follow any tours except a day trip booked with Klook to Yabuli and Snow Town. The Snow Expo and Ice world are truly extraordinary and I ticked off one item in my bucket list, yay!! I tell my girls - it is like a self discovery that we can successful make it to such a cold and exciting adventure on our own with minimal Mandarin. It means we will be able to take on many future challenges in life independently! Some caution though, we find 2 things that are disturbing. 1. Everyone smokes everywhere - taxi drivers in the Didi cars smoke, restaurant patrons next to us were chain smokers and hence, we couldn't enjoy our tasty iron hotpot for long. 2. Places are crowded and tourists are very loud. At one point, we couldn't even make our way to ski equipment or exits. But that's China - beautiful adventures in both nature and cities, but still needs improvement to be a wholesome traveling destination!

Most famous feature of Harbin is the annual Ice City which...

Most famous feature of Harbin is the annual Ice City which of course isn't available in the summer. But Harbin itself has a lot of Russian architecture and Russian shops and restaurants and a lot of history, the town was built up by rich Russians fleeing the revolution. There are many interesting things to visit including a Tiger Park where you can ride a tour bus and feed the tigers. But definitely recommend a visit during the winter to see the Ice City and the vast snow sculptures.

A few years ago Harbin was amazing but not anymore.

A few years ago Harbin was amazing but not anymore. Central street was overcrowded and most things were overpriced and similar to being sold in other shops. Most of the central areas are dirty, rundown and smelling of urine everywhere. Also if you can’t speak Chinese you’ll be lost because nobody speaks English. I was very disappointed and certainly won’t be going there again soon.

Outstanding but very cold.

Outstanding but very cold. We hit the Ice Festival, Zhaolin Park, St Sophia Church, the Cablecars, the Night festivities, Zhangyong Street Mall, the Siberian Tigers, and many other spots. Great to see so many Starbucks, the app makes it easy to order when English speaking staff.

This was a great flat with easy access by walking or subway to central Harbin. It was easy to get to all the Ice & Snow Festival venues by subway. In a nice locality. The owner was extremely helpful in making sure we found the apartment easily and the staff at the premises were also lovely and helpful. We could also see the calendar new year fireworks from the window.

Excellent breakfast and dinner (Thursday to Monday dinner main dining area), both are buffet style. Excellent service, always attentive to guests needs. We had to depart the hotel at 5.00am for an airport connection, and were given a takeaway breakfast, both hot and cold option in the package...excellent.
