Beautiful place with so much history and great sights.
Beautiful place with so much history and great sights. You'll find many temples, teahouses, traditional foods, and of course the great giant Buddha, which personally left me in awe. Although Leshan is strongly associated with its historical scenic spots, it's also quite a modern city. You'll find conveniences like Walmart downtown, so you can also do some shopping if the need arises, too.

It is not Leshan but Emeishan actually.
It is not Leshan but Emeishan actually. Well, I think you definitely need time to fully appreciate the place. Unfortunately, I had only one day and when the rain came it was clear I can't do much walking. I was not prepared for that.

Be aware of the fact that the big Buddha gets renovated...
Be aware of the fact that the big Buddha gets renovated until February 2019. You cannot walk around it, only stand on the plattforms next to his head. The body and the legs of the Buddha are covered with scaffolding. Nevertheless, the surrounding park is nice, but maybe not worth the quite high entrance füee of 80 RMB.

The buddha is definitely worth seeing.
The buddha is definitely worth seeing. Allow yourself around 4-5 hours to see the whole park. We ran out of time as the queue to walk down the Buddha took about an hour. There is not loads to see in the city centre, good for trying the local cuisine. There are regular busses from the train station to the Buddha.

Leshan Fodi Inn was fabulous!
Leshan Fodi Inn was fabulous! Would recommend staying in this great family run hotel for the best view in Leshan. Skip going to the actual site due to huge crowds. You get a better view from the Fodi Inn and the boat ride in front of the site.
