The employees were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and in good working order. The local recommendations were useful and the hotel was beautiful.

Excellent location right in the middle of Pingyao ancient town surrounded by restaurants and shops etc. All the staffs are friendly and helpful. They offered drop off and pick up from the railway station at a very little cost and because cars are not allowed inside of the ancient city, someone from the hotel will wait and greet at the entrance gate. Room was clean and comfortable. Enjoy and immerse yourself in the beauty and charming ancient China.

Everything was great! The place is simply beautiful, located in the heart of the old town it has the magic the tourists look for in such places. Very friendly host who helped me a lot 😃

We had an amazing time at Elsewhere Hotel. The hotel is located in the old city centre of Pingyao, and it is an old building in Chinese style. When we arrived, we had a warm welcome with a cup of tea. The staff is really friendly, and they speak English very well. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a hotel with greater hospitality! The staff helped us with tickets for several attractions in the old city. We really recommend to stay at this hotel!

The location was perfect—situated within the ancient town, but not on the busiest street, yet still just a short distance away. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in an ancient style. There was no noise at night, allowing for a peaceful stay.

I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Everything! The room is so beautiful I felt like a queen! The place is clean and the bed is comfortable. It's also so peaceful at night,I had the best sleep. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, they speak little English but they go above and beyond to help. The hotel also organised a free pickup both ways from the station. I really appreciated this as the old town is about 15 min by car and I think cars that don't have a permit wouldn't be allowed to enter inside the walled area,whereas their car could take me very close to the hotel. I will really recommend this place to my friends and anyone!

Beautiful residence located in the heart of the ancient walls of Pingyao. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Food was also fantastic. Definitely a highlight of our trip to China.
