The city was safe with lots of dining options. Definitely would arrange a private driver next time as waiting for a white taxi took up to an hour. It is recommended that you carry an umbrella and have a light rain jacket. Hydrating is important, as well as proper breathing due to the altitude. Comfortable shoes are a must.
Lovely neighborhoods, numerous parks, museums, international cuisine, coffee shops and bakeries make this city a Mecca amongst Latin American cities in the temperate zone. Though we enjoyed Medellin we found Bogota to have far more in the way of cultural offerings. Of course, traffic is indeed big city traffic but we didn’t find it to be so bad when compared to that of many other cities this size. Others may find the climate a bit chilly but for us it was wonderful not to have to cope with soaring temperatures not plummeting temperatures such as with many cities both north and south of the equator. We loved Bogota so much we’re considering moving here next year (after having traveled and lived in many other places, including Japan, China, Vietnam, Portugal, England, Korea, Costa Rica, Ecuador and the US). Highlights for eating out included Sushi Gozen, Tandoor, Marrakesh, Amma Cafe and Bakery and Colo.
It isn't a safest place on Earth.... We had few hours in between flights so we decided to go out and see something from the city. We planned to Botanical Garden nearby but our Uber driver warned us (God bless him) that soon is going to rain so we went to plan B and visited the Gold Museum which was amazing and absolutely must see category. No matter what but use Uber! On the way there we paid cca 12-15 dollars. On the way back I couldn't get an Uber (as I had no WIFI) and we grab a taxi. It was exactly 7th time more expensive and we couldn't really do anything about it. Also, the traffic after 5 p.m. gets really intense, you have to count on that. We saw a group of thieves at front of the Museum, our taxi driver told us they are the bad, young guys who smoke lots of weed and rob tourist (little did we know about it then that he is one of a kind himself too, I mean he charged us waaaaaaay toooo much) to my question how they can do with such a police precence, he said that the police is immensely corrupt, they chase the robbers til the next corner where they split the prey. Still I would spend a day or two in Bogota, because the city itself seems to be beautiful and I know there are some safer district for tourists.
Bogotá itself is more about museums and the Cerro Monserrate, which offers a stunning bird-eye view of the city. There are many interesting things to see around it, in neighboring towns like Villa de Leyva. However, getting there may be challenging. Bogotá's traffic is insane and, although there are buses that take you everywhere, it usually takes them too many hours to get to places, like 5, 6 hours. That makes you waste a lot of time in just going to and back from places. Agency tours will be obviously more expensive, but also save you a lot of time and planning.
Bogota is a hidden gem overshadowed by the history of country. The museums and restaurants are 5 star quality. The people very friendly, and amazing sights. I definitely recommend as a travel destination. You will enjoy Michelin star worthy meals with amazing variety at fraction of price paid anywhere else on earth. I will definitely be back. So much to see and so little time.
Mega city where contrast of wealth-poverty is appalling, 10+ million people is overwhelming. Traffic a nightmare. I’ve been in the city for work long time ago, this time it was rather disappointing. Tourists? Prepare to pay double for everything. Best in Teusaquen? Restaurant Lima1850 great food & excellent staff… and some musicians playing classic music & being ignored … caribbean band playing near the Feria de pulgas got attention.
I love the decor and attention to detail. The snacks in the room were all very Colombian and delicious. It was a thoughtful touch. The staff was excellent. Excited to eat their breakfast today. We love the location. It's a quaint neighborhood with many good restaurants. I would have been happy staying at the hotel because their restaurant is gorgeous. There are many beautiful places in the hotel to go read and enjoy the terrace. We will do this again and we highly recommend this place. We celebrated our wedding anniversary.
Candelaria - Centro Historico, Bogotá
I loved the front desk staff. They all speak English very well (best in any hotel I stayed at in Colombia) and are great for a quick chat when coming in and leaving. I had a room with a private bathroom and it was nice and clean and very comfortable. It’s gets chilly at night and I found the provided blankets to be good for keeping warm. I stayed twice - when I arrived and the night before I left colombia and I will definitely go back when I am in Bogota again. I highly recommend staying here.
Very elegant boutique hotel with exceptional design - in lobby, kitchen, terrace, etc. The location was perfect, definitely would recommend staying in Chapinero when visiting Bogota - walking distance to Zone G for restaurants, also close for Zone T for bars and clubs, around 25 minutes taxi (Uber or Cabify) ride to Candelaria, and 35-40 min ride to the Airport. The staff was really friendly and helpful although they don't speak English.
Very close to El Dorado airport, less than a half hour drive. Also nearby an atm, several small restaurants, and other mom and pop stores. Apartments were very nice for the price, they provided airport transportation for a great price, they were very hospitable, and flexible with check in and check out times. I’ve rented an apartment here 4 different times when I’ve visited Bogota and I will rent it again if I revisit Colombia
Ibis Marly is brand new and it shows. The main advantage: double-paned windows that actually keep you both warm and keep out the noise, which is often a problem in Bogota hotels. Rooms are small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffet is good, location is close to the main areas of the Chapinero district. And with the M86/X86 bus lines it has direct connections to the airport
The location is very good, parque 93 is 2 min walking distance where you can find plenty of choices for eating and drinking. The area is very safe. The bedrooms have plenty of space, comfortable mattress. The girls at the reception are very helpful. The premise has a lift. I will be back to this hotel next time I am in Bogota.
My stay at the hotel was great. I was craving a Colombian arepa with chocolate and it was precisely my breakfast after the first night I stayed. The location is very convenient; close to the airport and very easy to get to. My room had everything I needed; a bathroom and a comfortable bed, plus a closet and desk.
Chapinero, Bogotá
Lovely hotel with staff available 24/7, our flight arrived late and the receptionist was still up waiting for us. Very safe and located within walking distance from the local shops and restaurants. It took about an hour to walk to la candelaria and all the main tourist spots in Bogota from the hotel.
We need more details about good locations to stay in particular Colombia. When I arrived at the hotel I saw a lot of police in front of the property. Also we need to know about restaurants open 24 hours, There is normal to have 24h service. Good tip to advise it. Good breakfast. Thank you, guys.
Location is great in case you want to visit Bogota downtown. Gold museum nearby but also most of the other important parts to visit of the city center. Great (Colombian style) breakfast and very nice staff. I felt secure in the hotel
The Makudo restaurant for dinner was great. Delicious ceviche and good beef. A little high priced by Colombian standards, but we were at an airport hotel. Service at the restaurant was really nice at dinner and also at breakfast
OMG, the breakfast was amazing, as a Colombia who loves to eat, it was wonderful. The location is close to the downtown, so you can go for a walk in some beautiful places in Bogotá. The staff was super friendly.
The room was comfortable. Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful. The drivers the hotel arranged were excellent. Bogota and Colombia is wonderful. This hotel is a disappointment.
Perfect when you arrive late at Bogota Airport. We just went to the pickup point, a few minutes later our shuttle left to the hotel. The breakfast is a big plus.
The hotel decoration is exquisite, very comfortable rooms, good breakfast. Very good location in Bogotá, close to Parque 93 with many restaurants and bars
Fontibon, Bogotá
I chose this hotel as it is really close to Bogota airport. It is not the place to spend a long vacation but an ideal room for one night stop over.
Great hotel and great value for the money. My favorite hotel in Bogotá when traveling solo
Chapinero, Bogotá

The location was amazing. You can find a bunch of good and varied restaurants near to the hotel. Also the staff was great. the food and service exceptional.
