It isn't a safest place on Earth.... We had few hours in between flights so we decided to go out and see something from the city. We planned to Botanical Garden nearby but our Uber driver warned us (God bless him) that soon is going to rain so we went to plan B and visited the Gold Museum which was amazing and absolutely must see category. No matter what but use Uber! On the way there we paid cca 12-15 dollars. On the way back I couldn't get an Uber (as I had no WIFI) and we grab a taxi. It was exactly 7th time more expensive and we couldn't really do anything about it. Also, the traffic after 5 p.m. gets really intense, you have to count on that. We saw a group of thieves at front of the Museum, our taxi driver told us they are the bad, young guys who smoke lots of weed and rob tourist (little did we know about it then that he is one of a kind himself too, I mean he charged us waaaaaaay toooo much) to my question how they can do with such a police precence, he said that the police is immensely corrupt, they chase the robbers til the next corner where they split the prey. Still I would spend a day or two in Bogota, because the city itself seems to be beautiful and I know there are some safer district for tourists.
Bogotá itself is more about museums and the Cerro Monserrate, which offers a stunning bird-eye view of the city. There are many interesting things to see around it, in neighboring towns like Villa de Leyva. However, getting there may be challenging. Bogotá's traffic is insane and, although there are buses that take you everywhere, it usually takes them too many hours to get to places, like 5, 6 hours. That makes you waste a lot of time in just going to and back from places. Agency tours will be obviously more expensive, but also save you a lot of time and planning.
Bogota is a hidden gem overshadowed by the history of country. The museums and restaurants are 5 star quality. The people very friendly, and amazing sights. I definitely recommend as a travel destination. You will enjoy Michelin star worthy meals with amazing variety at fraction of price paid anywhere else on earth. I will definitely be back. So much to see and so little time.
Mega city where contrast of wealth-poverty is appalling, 10+ million people is overwhelming. Traffic a nightmare. I’ve been in the city for work long time ago, this time it was rather disappointing. Tourists? Prepare to pay double for everything. Best in Teusaquen? Restaurant Lima1850 great food & excellent staff… and some musicians playing classic music & being ignored … caribbean band playing near the Feria de pulgas got attention.
My only issue is pick pockets and gypsies from Venezuela in the Historic District (Candelaria) The law enforcement needs to step up or word will get out and travelers will stop coming. Multi media allows real time posting and vlogging. Many other countries and regions police themselves much better in tourist area at the minimum.
Bogota is a big city. Beautiful and numerous highrise arquitectura. Many cultural and historic places to visit. But we must be ready to get used to the intense traffic. Public transit I found it very good too and convenient. But it takes time to really enjoy the amenities of this big Capital.
The hotel was perfect for a layover in Bogota for an early morning flight. The hotel is excellent at communicating with clients before check-in regarding their free airport shuttle and any special needs for a stay. I checked in at 9:30pm, checked out at 4am and took a 4:30 shuttle to the airport for my 6:15 flight. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel restaurant, bar and small convenience store had everything I needed. This was my second stay at Habitel. Each stay was exactly what my travels required.
Everything was at its best. The staff was very kind and attentive. They did their best to arrange another room for us when we wanted to extend our stay and the hotel was almost fully booked. Everything was superclean. The breakfast was good. We had a little waterproblem which was solved immediately. And the hotel's location is perfect between the centre, la Candelaria and the universities' neighbourhood. If we come back to Bogotá, we will definitely come back to El Virrey Centro.
Chapinero, Bogotá
This is definitely the best experience I had in Colombia. The location is excellent - I love the neighborhood (el chico). so tranquil, so elegant and so polish. The staff is so friendly and provides me with anything I needed. The room is so comfy and I especially enjoyed the view from my window. Everything is so clean in this property - the room, the bathroom and the common area. I really love staying here, and would definitely come back to stay if I visit Bogota again.
Perfect location in the historic center. Within walking distance to the Botero Museum and Gold Museum. Lots of restaurants close by. Our flight was delayed arriving in Bogota at 2:00am and hotel staff was very accommodating in checking us in at such a late hour. Hotel and hotel rooms have lots of character. Great friendly staff who assisted with recommendations for restaurants. Our room had a wonderful balcony overlooking the street below. Good breakfast
Very central location, half way between more touristy Candelária and fancier Chapinero and near the busier 7th Avenue, this hotel can be quickly reached by taxi from the airport. It’s a charming house and has a 24h doorman. The 45th street and surroundings offer numerous fast food places. Some typical Colombian restaurants and it’s probably one of the most interesting streets for craft beer lovers: I counted about 6-8 beer bars and brewpubs in the area.
The Hotel is really comfortable and the Staff absolutely friendly and helpfull, not only they helped me to move around bogota but also were really atentive to my requirements (transport from and to the airport and around the city). I had to go to the airport at 5 am and they not only arrange a really comfortable transport but also a delicius breakfast for me before leaving. I gladly will recomend my friends this Hotel and surely i will be back.
Very elegant boutique hotel with exceptional design - in lobby, kitchen, terrace, etc. The location was perfect, definitely would recommend staying in Chapinero when visiting Bogota - walking distance to Zone G for restaurants, also close for Zone T for bars and clubs, around 25 minutes taxi (Uber or Cabify) ride to Candelaria, and 35-40 min ride to the Airport. The staff was really friendly and helpful although they don't speak English.
Great location, easily accessible from the airport and central for all access to major sites across Bogota. Good buffet breakfast and facilities which were great for us as we had spent two weeks travelling around Colombia prior to our stay here. The staff and concierge were extremely helpful and friendly in getting us setup and when there was an issue with a light bulb it was immediately fixed with the help of maintenance.
the location is perfect for people needs to stay in Bogota overnight or for long layovers the taxi from the airport to the hotel is around 20 or 25 thousand Colombia pesos which is 6 dollars but the hotel have the own shuttle if you want to wait for. the area is secure but is nothing around I mind if you looking for a mall restaurants or something like that. rooms perfect sizes I highly recommend this Hotel.
The staff is exceptional, always taking care of you and helping you with everything you need. The restaurant area which is the lobby as well has a great view of the city. It also has a balcony where you can sit and eat and enjoy the gorgeous view of Bogotá and its mountains. It is also super close to to airport, like a 7min drive Affordable and comfortable, great hotel overall.
The hotel is very nice and comfortable. We had a good stay overall and would stay again if having a late arrival or early departure from Bogota airport. Breakfast was quite good but coffee and hot chocolate were not.
I always spend my first or last night here when I am traveling to Bogotá. It is a very professionally run hotel. Always clean and with an excellent breakfast. I recommend this 100%
The location is great for access to the airport and for avoiding the traffic in and out of Bogota. The hotel is pleasantly decorated and the internet is fast.
Chapinero, Bogotá
Amazing neighborhood with an amazing shower and staff. Lots of great restaurants, very safe. Favorite hotel in Bogota!! Netflix accounts set up in each room.
The breakfast was typical Colombian (simple and just perfect). The hotel is perfect if you are attending an event at Corferias, but secluded at night.
The transfer from and to the airport is great! Uncomplicated and easy to get to the hotel. Perfect for a layover in Bogotá.
Safe hotel in good neighbourhood, good base to explorer Bogota
From the rooms, the breakfast to the location seemed like everything genius to me. I would definitely stay at the hotel for another stay. The warmth of the customer service staff and everyone I crossed paths with, were always attentive and helpful.
The room vas very clean, comfortable, just few hoursbefore my flight and I had a really good rest. Very nice people then...
Everything The staff is amazing. Breaths very good. Very clean
