This is a quintessentially traditional village nestled in nature. As the sole visitor that day, I was warmly welcomed by Gustavo's family. Gustavo took me on a four-hour exploration of the rainforest, solely to search for monkeys and witness exotic flora—a truly rewarding trek! The village children were utterly adorable, and we later gathered by the river to watch the sunset. While the accommodation didn't match hotel standards, the traditional village's environment was already quite comfortable. Each room featured a private bathroom and water containers for showers, with mosquito nets ensuring a worry-free sleep.

Our trip to the Amazon was incredible. The best stay of our Colombian trip, we cannot recommend it enough. The food was local and they adapted to our preferences (my partner is vegetarian), the cabins were comfortable, cozy and we felt at home. They took really good care, when there was no bottled water they went out in the middle of the night to get it. It was a nice chilling place, the music was kept down to the minimum. I got all the info I needed on how to get around. The bus was particularly useful to get to town. There was a lovely natural pool of water few hundred meters away and there were other places within easy reach to swim.

My stay at Casa Jaguar in Macedonia was absolutely fantastic. The all-inclusive package for breakfast, lunch, and dinner cost just $4, featuring fresh ingredients and generous portions. Juan and his family—along with their two adorable children—were exceptionally kind. I particularly loved their daughter Honey, who was as sweet as honey and incredibly charming. At 4 PM, I took a boat ride with the Juan to a nearby island, where we enjoyed plenty of fresh fruits for a truly unique experience. I highly recommend spending two days here; Juan will also arrange affordable jungle hikes and other exploration activities at great value.

Very comfortable room with great mosquitonet, nice zone to chill out in hammocks, and very friendly owners! And delicious food (breakfast as well as the lunch and the dinner)! 😋 we liked staying in Macedonia instead of Leticia because it is a community rather than a city, and more authentic experience.
