Alajuela is a great and safe city, mins from the airport. There are many great hotels including the Marriott near the airport, Lots of Airbnb options, restaurants, and soda's. The architecture is amazing, with two beautiful Cathedrals, not to be missed, and several museums. Take advantage of the walking tours, there are several which offer the history and many places that would otherwise be missed.

We enjoyed our first stay so much at Hotel Robledal we booked two more nights at the end of our trip. It is a family owned hotel, so their attention to detail and helpfulness was excellent. Our trip fell on Costa Rica's labor day and I was impressed that so much of the staff had that time off while the brothers/owners pitched in to take their places. What they have created here (Hotel/business/restaurant, etc) is something special and I hope they continue in their success!!! As for Alajuela itself, we only experienced a few businesses (Family Carwash for one was EXCELLENT) it seemed to be a pleasant, vibrant, area full of hard working families and plenty of courtesy! Thank you so much ~ Teresa

I only stayed for 1 night needing to be at the airport the next day. The location is close to the airport, about a 10 minute drive. There are a few parks and plazas to visit and the area has almost everything you could need. I didn't find anything particularly interesting nearby but I wasn't there long.

Hosts were great, accessible and accommodating no matter what time of day - very responsive. Room was always clean and I felt safe staying there. They made me feel like family. Will definitely book here again next time I come to Costa Rica!

I stayed here only for the night before journeying on to and from the east coast of Costa Rica. This hotel is close to the airport and therefore worked very well for us. Other than walk around a little to the park in the morning we did not stay in Alajuela.

Alajuela is where the airport is. We were glad to be close by, so that we didn't have to worry about a difficult drive from far away, on the day we had to catch an early flight. Perhaps there are nicer parts of town, but the neighborhood where Terida Airport B and B is located is not a desirable place to spend time. The small community behind the huge black metal gate was nicer, though. There was a little park, and some nice homes in there, but no restaurants or stores. For that it was necessary to venture out into the sketchy neighborhood streets. It's not easy to navigate the streets of Alejuela, especially during the day when traffic is heavy. There 's not much room to drive, let alone park. Waze did a good job of directing us to the B and B and to the car rental office. Without a navigation device, it would have been very difficult.

The hosts (Carmen & Felix) were communicative and they met us in person at the property to greet us, give the keys, give a tour, and explain the rules. They were wonderful, flexible, and easy to communicate with. Easy check-in. Safe, quite location. Very close to central Alajuela and a 10 minute drive to the airport. The place was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was extremely well stocked with spices in the kitchen, snacks, and thoughtful amenities.

Although the location is on a busy street, the rooms are in the back and very little noise could be heard. Alejandro was the best host, always willing to help and answer questions. We stayed here for two nights just two weeks previous to this visit and decided to spend out last night in Costa Rica here again! We highly recommend it as it is definitely a 10!!!

It cost 7$. Would be cheaper if paid in CRC. The taxi driver waited until the hotel door was unlocked and we were able to go in. Quiet hotel. Comfortable bed. Good cooking facilities. Nice seating area. Banks in town. Claro shop to buy a sim. Breakfast in cafe opposite good.
