The owners helped us with everything we asked, and even the things we didn’t ask! Place is clean, amazing view and feels like in the middle of the jungle (monkeys, birds - you name it). Highly recommended!

Cahuita is a gem. The park is excellent, with some beautiful white beaches, and abundant wildlife everywhere. You will see more if you engage a local guide. The town is small and chilled, with a range of restaurants and a few shops ranging from standard beach stuff to one or two smart boutiques. The black beach is a little way from the main town, but walkable, and pretty good, but not as good as playa blanca, which you can only access through the park. Wildlife and verdant vegetation is everywhere. Locals are friendly and helpful, and not as cynical or jaded as in many, more developed tropical resort areas. It is also surprisingly easy to get to and from and up and down the coast on the local buses.
Friendly, safe, easy to get around, close to national park. Not crowded and cleaner compared to Puerto Viejo. This is a Costa Rican town with local businesses not a fancy resort destination. You will see plenty of monkeys and sloths, beautiful vegetation and birds.
Cahuita is small. But has many restaurants to choose from. Cahuita national park is beautiful and full of monkeys and other jungle animals. Only a couple small places to shop. Small grocery stores available. Would rent a car. Large town of Puerto Viejo about 30 40 minutes away. MANY people and very chaotic.
We enjoyed walking through the small town, eating at the local restaurants and touring the National Park that is at the edge of it (entrance is by donation only - no recommended amount). The beaches were lovely.
Many people don't venture to the Caribbean side mostly they go to the Pacific side. I wanted less tourism and more culture so for me this little town was both charming and and a bit adventure. More Spanish speaking and less English over hear, also some Italian German. You can take the local bus or drive further down south which is more touristy to Punte Viejo. Up north Tortuguero and you can also take an excursion anywhere from here. Be aware it's almost 3.5-4 hours away from San Jose central.. everything from the San Jose airport is a 2-3 hours either direction, but small tourisma excursion busses, car rental etc are available. Be aware of the rentals and their contracts like Solid car rental. READ the fine print and follow everything to a T and you'll have less problems
Cahuita is a nice town with not a lot to do, aside from the Park and the beach. However, it is full of activity, buses, people walking every which way, eating at the many restaurants. It does not have either the genteel air of a graceful seaside town nor the slickness of a seaside resort. It looks a bit weather beaten and you could say it's seen better times, but I guess therein lies the charm!
Perrine & Mathieu were very nice to talk to and they run a very nice establishment. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast was great. It's a bit far from town but they offer a shuttle to Cahuita daily in the morning. Thanks for making my time in Costa Rica so much more enjoyable than it would have been if I'd stayed in Puerto Viejo at the hotel without A/C.
Exceptional host, staff, location, cleanliness, quiet, cute little dogs, gated security, air conditioning, fans, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds... we didn't drive our car for 4 days, everything in walking distance. Housekeeper came in everyday. Amazing. I can't emagine a better place to stay in Cahuita.
Everything is perfect, the location food staff. Breakfast is delicious and made by the owners who are italian. The apartments are fully equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay in cahuita. Even if you want to do some activities in puerto viejo this is the place to stay. Thanks Guys!
Wow!! Playa Negra was SO close and so was the National Park of Cahuita. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we had A/C and it was working perfectly, everything was clean. Loved the hamac outside of the cabina! Recommend it to anyone who's looking for a calm and comfortable place!
Cahuita has a great Caribbean vibe but without the overtouristic feeling of puerto Viejo. Right next to the sea Owner always helpful and willing to give advise Room was spacious with large bed Perfect place to relax Family friendly
Best place to be in Costa Rica, Cahuita is just magic... and the owners from Secret Garden make it perfect... Local sodas and restaurants also very affordable and lobster in nearby restaurant were very good...
We had the cabin with kitchen. It was a nicely decorated and well equipped cabin. In a lovely garden. The location is perfect for playa negra and in walking distance from town and Cahuita NP.
The grounds are beautiful. The walk to the stores and restaurants in Cahuita takes just minutes. The staff is very attentive.
Location near Cahuita National Park, Rhode Island's staff so gently, shared kitchen if you want to cook.
Super Location close to the Beach Lovely Garden ! Best Hotel on our Holiday in Costa Rica
The hotel was close to the bus terminal and close to the park.
Every thing about this Lodge was great. Our cabin was by itself so no neighbors. The windows and doors were huge and all opened giving it a real outdoor feeling. We could hear and see the sounds of the ocean but were definitely in the jungle. We heard the howler monkeys in the mornings. Had a sloth come to visit. Birds galore. This Lodge was great value as it was Clean, spacious, equipped with full kitchen, remote but close to village and activities. The owners went out of their way to assist us even though we don't speak Spanish and the breakfast that was included was very well done and served on a open covered patio overlooking the garden. We could have enjoyed more time here and would recommend to those who like to be a little secluded.
Villa mango provides the perfect relaxing end to our two week tour of Costa Rica. Ideal accommodation for our family, the location is excellent - walking distance to low-key Cahuita, excellent restaurants, beach and national park. The house and gardens are very attractively designed with all comforts, and a variety of visiting wildlife. Yves was charming and on hand in case of any queries and we appreciated the welcome drinks ! Would love to return one day.
The room, the garden, the view, the nature and last but not least the host are simply unbelievable. We decided to extend our stay after minutes. A decision we didnt regret.
The place is gorgeous. A bit of heaven on earth. The rooms are clean and spacious, the grounds and gardens are beautiful, the pool is so inviting, the breakfast filling...
Poison dart frogs and snakes right outside the door to my cabinas! Not far from beach. Atlantic waves are rough, don't expect a leisurely swim.
Nice big territory. Good breakfast. Close by Cahuiti National Park.
Everything. Simply put: we liked everything!
