The location is excellent, with easy access to the beach, restaurants, bars and everything you need in town, but it still felt relaxed and comfortable. The room was pleasant, the lighting was good, and the restaurant was a real bonus — easy, convenient and a nice place to spend time without needing to go far.

Loved the town, felt safe and clean. Keep in mind the parking scam, the assertive sales pitches of some vendors, but all normal for Central America. The weather, beaches, hospitality and food was all amazing. Will be coming back!

Playas del Coco was a really easy and enjoyable place to spend time in Costa Rica. It has a relaxed beach-town feel, with plenty of restaurants, bars, cafés and shops within walking distance, so it is very convenient as a traveller. I liked that it felt social and lively without being too overwhelming, and it was a good base for meeting other travellers, eating well and exploring the area.
The beach itself is more of a relaxed walking/sunset beach than a serious surf beach, so surfers may want to travel elsewhere for better waves. But for food, drinks, atmosphere, convenience and a fun traveller-friendly base, Coco is definitely worth visiting.

The town was somewhat messy with regards to rubbish on the streets and very uneven sidewalks for access to locations. Lots of good restaurants and cafes to suit most budgets both in town and along the beach. The Coco catamaran sunset tour was vey good.

Coco is a very nice bech town.
Coco is a very nice bech town. It has now become very expensive. I use to live there but left because of the high price of rent. More than $1200 USD per month with shared, pay for laundry and no oven. I was told by the realtor that a two bed, two bath place with an oven and laundry would cost me more than $2000. Before the pandemic I was paying $800 per month for a two bed two bath with an oven and free shared laundry. I left Coco for about a year and when I returned (after the pandemic) all of the rents were at least $1200 USD per month. Extreme price gouging for sure. Still Coco is a very nice place but has become a very expensive place also.

It is a good place to find a restaurant and nightlife.
It is a good place to find a restaurant and nightlife. There are much nicer beaches close by if you are looking to enjoy the water and a nice sunset. Unfortunately the rising costs in Costa Rica are making it less desirable to visit. It is getting run down in many areas and the costs are climbing dramatically.

I strongly recommend staying in the Hampton Inn Hotel near Liberia airport and less than 30 minutes from Coco. The town of Coco is not suited for walking as there are only a few run down sidewalks. Food is excellent although extraordinarily expensive. Weather was hot and sunny but beach was not particularly welcoming with a run down pathway filled with stoners. Water perfect warmth and sand silky, but poor ocean visibility near shore as the black sand was churned up by the waves. Had to walk a long way out to get to water above my knees. No lifeguard and would not leave any valuables unattended.

The hotel is directly across from the beach with hammocks and lounge areas onsite and a skate park, basketball court, table tennis courts, and other fitness/water activities & tour options nearby. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance and some of the most friendly people I have ever met.
Breakfast is included, credit cards and US dollars are readily accepted, and many people speak English.

Felt like a tiny oasis in Coco, super relaxing atmosphere and the rooms, pool and garden were all fantastic. All the linen and towels felt very luxurious too. We also liked that self service coffee was available all day. It's also really close to all the amenities of the town. Breakfast was beautiful. We loved speaking to the owners and meeting Jackson the cat

We loved this peaceful hotel with beautiful grounds. Away from the town you can relax in the room, on the veranda, in the hammocks or by the pool. Helpful staff, the option of breakfast if you want it or prepare your own in the small kitchen area of your room.
Easy walking distance to the beach and into the town.

Lovely place in a convenient location for travelers arriving from Liberia. We stayed one night and it was perfect to rest after our flight, visit Playa Coco, and continue our journey south the next day. Recommended!
