Very friendly and helpful staff. They helped me suggesting tours, giving options, ordered a lunch for us because I was having language issues lol). Internet was reliable and fast enough for our needs. Shuttle from the room to the front office was also there and they provided to us at short notices whenever we needed it. Restaurant staff was also friendly and helpful. The private balcony on my room was fantastic - provided great views and sounds of rain forest!

This hotel was incredible! I was traveling with a group of friends, and we wanted somewhere that would give us some relaxing resort vibes without breaking the bank, and that would arrange tours and outdoor activities for us. The concierge was amazing and helped us book every activity we wanted in our six-day stay, including ones we booked far in advance and others we decided we wanted while we were there. They helped us call taxis when we wanted to go into town (the only logistically negative thing about La Fortuna is that most hotels aren't walking distance from the main downtown area). The views were insanely lovely - on the clear days, I could see the Arenal volcano through my window from my bed. The hotel and hot springs are lovely and well-maintained, and so close to nature that we saw a group of howler monkeys playing from the springs. The free breakfast is also incredible; half of my friends don't normally even eat breakfast, but they got up early to enjoy this one because it was so great and had so many good offerings.
Any time we needed help with something, Arenal Manoa was there to make it happen, and after all of our outdoor adventures through forests, caves, and wildlife, it was a pleasure and a treat to come "home" to our lovely air-conditioned rooms and the beautiful facilities of the resort (our housekeeper even left us fun towel animals - a different one each day! Little touches like that were frequent at this lovely place). All of us were first time travelers to Costa Rica, so the knowledge-base and advice of the staff were also incredibly helpful. If I travel to this area again, there is no question that I would come back to Arenal Manoa - in fact, it would probably be a reason why I would want to come back! :)

The hotel had a full breakfast. We were treated with professionalism and kindness. We actually found this place to be unique and charming. The thermal pools were open until 10 pm and went into the water late at night. We had total privacy. It was also a good 15-20 mins from town. I will definitely stay here again!!

Fortuna is a wonderful place to go if you want your Costa Rican trip to focus on the outdoors and the beautiful biodiversity of the rainforest! The town and community feel largely centered on agriculture and eco-tourism. We had a great time on walking tours of wildlife, river floats, horseback-riding, and traveling through a cave system.
We ate a lot as a part of our tours, but also a shout out to Casa Fortuna and El Fortuneno, two great restaurants we ventured out to! Other great tour companies were Canoa Aventura, Go Adventure Arenal Park, and Don Juan Arenal.
Getting around is the only tricky thing; most tours will provide transportation for you, but most hotels are a cab ride from the main downtown, so if you just want to explore, be prepared to pay for a cab (we were a group of 6 and always needed a big cab, which our hotel helped us get, $40 round trip from our hotel each time we wanted to go, so not bad).
I speak decent Spanish, but no one else in my group did, and we all found the community very friendly and welcoming. This is great for a getaway that combines relaxation with outdoor adventures and learning about the incredible wildlife in the area.

Not enough towels, but was given extra when we requested.
Not enough towels, but was given extra when we requested. Hot water runs out quickly. 2 of 6 bedrooms do not have air conditioning. Upper level has very sparse kitchen utensils. Stove did not have a propane tank so not functional. So we cooked in the downstairs kitchen. Went to the Danaus eco reserve but was not worth the price even though we got the discounted $20 cash price.

We rented a car in San Jose and drove in, it was very easy to get around. Such a great area with tons to do for all types of travelers. We hiked several times (Arenal 1968 and Mistico Hanging Bridges), did canyoning/ziplining (Maquique Adventures), took a sloth tour & learned how to make tortillas (Mariolas), and enjoyed our hotel property which had a bunch of onsite experiences (Hotel Silencio del Campo). Some of our favorite in-town eateries were La Parada and Soda La Hormiga. If you go during rainy season, know that your clothes won't dry so either have backups or pack quick-dry outfits. Definitely a great place to visit!

There is so much to do here 3 days was not enough!!
There is so much to do here 3 days was not enough!! I suggest a week to do some of the many activities in the area and explore La Fortuna. You can pack a lot in a few days but you will be exhausted. Also, don't drive in town, get an Uber! Super cheap and you don't have to deal with the congestion in town. I can't recommend the Bogarin Trail sloth tour enough!! If you are going in the rainy season get your activities done in the morning when the sun is out and sky is clear. The afternoon it tends to rain a lot. I feel I used my Spanish here more often than the other areas we visited (Playa Flamingo and Santa Teresa). Lots of great souvenir shops here. The CR money beach towels are awesome if you like the look of the money! Also, if you love chocolate go to Chocolate Fusion...seriously, just do it! Our favorite place to eat was El Chante Verde. The food there was amazing and their tropical Chili guaro was outstanding!

Fortuna is amazing - weather was perfect (summer weather but not too hot especially on the trails / hikes), had a bit of rain but we got quite lucky and avoided it for the most part. Foliage is some of the most beautiful I've seen, mix of tropical and rainforest. Would highly recommend doing a waterfall rappelling tour & a chocolate tour (Don Olivo). Wish we could have stayed longer to do more nature tours to see animals, though we did see a sloth our last day on Bogarin trail (it's quite hard to find yourselves, would recommend following a tour guide). Next time I'd also stay closer to city center and at a larger hotel - we stayed at a boutique and it was very nice, but a bit hard to transport around and hard to communicate as we only speak a little Spanish.

It's very nice nature and attraction for tourist, but it's pretty expensive to stay here long time, go to the restaurant or even supermarket. I think it's ideal for 2-3 days, definetely not more, because of the prices
Good sized hostel right in the downtown area of La Fortuna, lots of bars and restaurants close by. On myain road so easy to get to excursions. The hotel portion was very spatious and the pool was fun. Little bit cold at night, would be nice if it had a hot tub, but for a hostel its great. The circle cabins in the back looked cool, but all the backpackers seemed to have their stuff spread out everywhere, so I was happy to stay in the hotel part. Would definitely stay here again!
This hotel is a gem within the incredible La Fortuna location! It is walking distance to the center town area (about a 15 minute walk) - we walked during the day and night and got around easily. The staff were super kind and thoughtful - they would go out of their way to make our days as great as possible! There is a great trail on the hotel property as well that leads to a peaceful river. The property itself is very well maintained and features beautiful flowers!
The hotel is great. Beautiful property, staff is very nice. The view to the volcano is amazing. The staff showed us the sloth that lives in a tree right in front of the hotel. Breakfast and parking included. It’s 10 min away from La Fortuna and 5 from the hot springs by car. Only stay here if you have a car.
amazing location, such lovely and helpful staff. the wildlife you can see from the hotel is amazing, I’ve never stayed anywhere like this. we also did the Sloth tour with Armando which was amazing, will recommend Arenal Xilopalo all our friends who visit La Fortuna
