The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The view is the best I have ever seen. Attention to detail is fabulous. Loved the staff, and we had a delicious meal in the restaurant, as well as complementary welcome cocktail and delicious breakfast buffet included with the room booking. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in this area. Yes, the road to get to the hotel is somewhat treacherous, but as long as you don't mind a few bumps in a four-wheel-drive, it shouldn't be a problem.

Moana is set in Nosara, a few steps away from Playa Guiones, famous for its great surf waves, 29 mi from Tamarindo. Each room at this hotel is air conditioned and is equipped with a flat-screen TV. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay the first week of 2017. The owners, Dani and Tali were outstanding and eagerly saw that every minute of our stay was enjoyable: From offering to provide breakfast at anytime, arranging taxis, tours, restaurant reservations, surfing, recommendations and insight on local environment and culture. The attention to detail at the property gives you the comfort that no corners are cut on cleanliness, and comfort. The property is well manicured and we had a sense of comfort in and out of our rooms at all times. All of the employees were friendly and helpful as well. The feeling is more like a Bed and Breakfast with family members you love, while offering more privacy. If you are seeking a loud party atmosphere with bars and restaurants on sight this is not your place. Bars and restaurants are within walking distance. There is a private path (raked daily) to the beach (local ordinance prevents properties from being built closer than 180 meters. We enjoyed a yoga class in the open-air yoga studio. Surfboards and instruction are available on sight. We surfed almost every day, and enjoyed the improvement we made over the course of the week. Waves were very good every day. One of the most consistent surfs in the world is on this beach. Moana is brand new, well constructed and immaculate. Looked at several other properties while in Nosara. If you like a clean, quiet relaxing place Moana is the best.

A great place for vacations. Pelada beach is really a good spot to enjoy sunsets. Mostly foreign people, so restaurants are a little bit expensive. There are roads and trails for practice trail running and MTB.
Awesome place to stay, there is so much to do! We had surf lessons, took yoga classes, cycled around and watched stunning sunsets from the beach. There are lots of places to eat out for all budgets and it’s easy to get around , we walked a lot but you can hire an ATV or golf cart easily if you wish.
Locals are pretty nice for the most part but they will stare at you and so will the tourists, it honestly felt really weird and awkward. This is not a party town! If you want to party more then go to a bigger city like Nicoya or Tamarindo. Go eat at El Chivo they have some of the best food in all of Nosara. Also, Costa Rica is a very expensive country, don’t come here expecting to pay Mexican prices. Also exchange your money for Colones which is Costa Rican money. You will thank me later. I suggest bringing as much cash as possible and exchanging it for Colones. Go check out the local spots as well and not just the tourist spots. Go to San Juanillo and Ostianal as well. I suggest renting a car. Unless you want to taxi everywhere or take a TukTuk everywhere which is like a mini three wheeler taxi. It’s very small. Be friendly with the locals and try your best to speak Spanish. Going out on the weekends is fun and good but keep in mind that everything still closes early. If you can make it to El Bar, that is one of the best bars as well. And it stays open later. Downtown Nosara is where most of the locals hang out there’s a club and some bars and spots to eat. Check out the Gardens Hotel restaurant, my friend owns it. It’s very nice. And they have very good craft beer there as well. Also, if you’re looking for a good yoga retreat or some good spiritual experiences and classes then go check out The Bodhi Tree. It’s beautiful!! And if you’re not staying there, and you want to go take classes, it’s only about $15 a class and they are well worth it. Just take the 90 minute classes and you will definitely be happy and graitified at the end. I hope this helps!
Nosara is a small quiet town in the Nortwestern region of Costa Rica. However, there are almost no paved roads. If you are traveling on bike or ATV be ready to wear a bandana at all times or you won’t be able to breathe. The roads are very dusty.
Surfing and yoga place, cool and maybe trandy. But SO DUSTY from onpaved roads that your stay is just unbearable. Think about vacationing near the entrance to the cement plant, your lungs are full with dust in a couple of days. The only escape is the beach. All vegetation is covered with dust, it is brown in color because of it. Why anybody want to vacation in such a dusty eco resort is very puzzling to me. Super unhealthy.
Playa Pelada had a sleepy beach feel to it with locals fishing and a few expats and local dogs roaming the beach and gathering around small campfires at night to watch the sunset. It felt really safe and the people were all so kind. There’s a real untouched beauty there with more hermit crabs and pelicans than people. Guiones beach was a bit more happening with surfers and families and yogis but even there everything was pretty spread out which made it feel pretty sleepy still (if you’re without a vehicle prepare to do a LOT of walking along dusty hot roads or strolling the beach for miles to get from place to place). There were a lot of property for sale signs up but I truly hope any development that happens there doesn’t effect the laid back and community vibe of the area.

This hotel is a gem. The renovations and updates are charming. We loved the pool and the fact that we could rent boards here and walk to the beach. Clean rooms with outdoor kitchen + hammock/hangout! So awesome! The best part: the restaurant + bar here: El Local. The BEST meal of our trip by far. The staff was all amazing: from the Manager to everyone at the restaurant. We met the owner as well, just lovely people. Happy to give them business and will send friends here!

The staff was very friendly. The location was prime and walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and other activities and yet was private and quiet. It was clean, beautiful, and the open concept was so welcome for relaxing in hammocks or reading by the pool. The yoga offered upstairs was convenient and a beautiful atmosphere. The board storage room was a plus and the rooms and main hotel were always pristine.
CRYS is an oasis on top of a mountain with 360 degree views of the gorgeous beach filled jungly region. It has the most beautiful yoga studio you’ll ever see. The staff treat you like family and see to your every wish. The chef makes scrumptious vegan food that heals your body and soul. I cannot day enough good things about my experience.

This place is an absolute gem. Jo and Agnes are so hospitable. Felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Very tranquil. Nice and breezy setting and the morning yoga was a bonus. Would love to have spent more time here. One of the nicest and best value places we have stayed in in Costa Rica. Breakfast was a banquet.

Bismarck is the best! He’s always friendly, upbeat, and accommodating. We rented a car and stayed at Jungle’s Edge. It’s about 5 min from the main center and beach. Food and drinks were great. We felt that all our stuff was safe there as well when we left to check out a different city for a couple days.
