Hotel Hoja de Oro Corcovado is offering accommodations in Puerto Jiménez. The property has a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and organizing tours for guests. I had a really great time at Hotel Hoja de Oro. I think a big, big part of this is that I speak pretty decent Spanish. So I spent a fair amount of time while I was there chatting with the two sisters that own and run the place and their extended families. I really don't believe that any of them speak much English with the exception of the two young women (both family or quasi family) who work there as receptionists and deal with actual and potential guests, and they speak some English. I don't know why, but for some reason I really bonded with all of them. They did some nice things for me, and I reciprocated by taking the two sisters and their respective husband's out to dinner. There wasn't a restaurant there, but we were provided with breakfast vouchers, which we redeemed at a local restaurant. That worked out pretty well. It was pretty hot in Puerto Jimenez, so the fact that my room had air conditioning was great. One other thing - just across the road I guess when you get down to it is the rain forest. During the late afternoons we sat right outside the hotel and watched all sorts of birds, some iguanas, and even some monkeys cavorting around in the trees. That was cool. When the two sisters took ownership of the hotel, it was in pretty bad shape. They spend a great deal of time and presumably funds in renovating it. So right now it is in really good shape. I don't think it has been open that long; my recollection is it reopened in November, 2018
Cabinas Jimenez offers an outdoor pool and is located right by the beach of the beautiful Gulfo Dulce. Cabinas Jimenez is in an ideal location in Puerto Jimenez, a simple, unsophisticated town on Osa Peninsula. The pace is decidedly different here, the staff are very helpful, our 4 day stay was a delight. If you don’t see scarlet macaws while at the hotel, it’s either because you were always in your room with the shades pulled closed, or you did not look up. Local guides are available, interesting tours are available, the real Costa Rica was revealed and we loved it.
Facing the beachfront in Puerto Jiménez, Cabinas Tropicales Puerto Jimenez features a garden and barbecue facilities. excellent service as always. couldnt ask for more. owner is very knowledgeable and answers all questions asked about the country and its plants and wildlife. accommodations are excellent and very safe. locked gate and secure fence. thanks so much Mark!!
Set within a 1000-acre private nature reserve in Central America’s last remaining lowland tropical rainforest in Costa Rica’s wild Osa Peninsula. Lapa Rios is just paradise on earth. We can't even describe how wonderful our stay at the lodge was. From your arrival to your departure, you don't have to worry about anything, just enjoy the peace and nature at Lapa Rios. The staff is always kind and helps you out with any kind of wish you have. Thank you so much to all of you, you made our stay just magical! We did have a picnic at the beach, which you can't describe as a picnic, more than a private lunch at the beach with your own chairs, freshly made food and great juices. The coffee delivery in the morning was also a highlight for us, I mean, who doesn't like to drink a coffee in your bed and see the sun rise over the ocean. It's just paradise and you don't want to go back to reality after you've stayed at this place. Not only the luxury of this place, but also their way of sustaining nature and trying to keep the lodge as eco friendly as you possibly can is just another point why Lapa Rios Lodge is the best place where you can stay in Costa Rica. There's nothing more to say about this overwhelming place on earth, just go there and see it for yourself.

Small, manageable Tico town without a huge tourist scene. There is a pharmacy, supermarket, bank, restaurants, shops and enough activities to stay active for some days. Having a 4x4 car was useful for getting down to Cabo Matapalo.
Puerto Jimenez has a lot going for a small town. People there are very nice---as elsewhere in Costa Rica. There are two large grocery stores, along with smaller ones and specialty food stores such as those selling fruit. There are two banks with ATMs for both dollars and colones (limit transaction to $100 or 50,000 colones---but you can do another back-to-back transaction if needed). There is also an ATM at the Pali grocery store, though we did not try to use that one. We had already done tours prior to arriving in PJ, so our activities were limited to kayaking/bicycling (thanks to free facilities at Cabinas Jimenez) and just wandering around this small Tico town, enjoying the little shops and restaurants. It was very nice to have the Golfo Dulce, with water and distant hills, as a backdrop! The macaws and other birds are quite active and Cabo Matapalo, Corcovado National Park, and other wildlife rich towns are not far away. If you have a vehicle, you have Aqua Dulce and another resort and for meals and a nice beach right nearby.
Good town as a base for visiting Osa Penninsula. Convenient accommodation, dining, supermarkets close to airport and wildlife tour companies. I got dinner from Soda Marbella. Really nice fried rice dish, and cheap 3000 colones. Getting too and from Puerto is very easy. I flew with Skyway and Sansa (one each direction). It I only stayed in town one afternoon before heading into Corcovado. It was enough. The town is small and pleasant enough for "passing through", but I could not see anything much that would make me want to hang around for longer than a day. It is not super-developed and touristy yet though, which means prices are not too inflated yet. One good thing is that it is possible to see wildlife in/near Puerto Jimenez. I saw many species of birds, iguana and also white-faced capuchin monkeys walking in the forest/roads between Puerto Jimenez and Playa Platanares.
It's a small town with one main street and not much there. The "port" nearby was more interesting, with several restaurants and a passenger ferry that you can take across the bay to Golfito. What surprised us was that you really couldn't go very far outside Puerto Jimenez without a four-wheel drive. The road into the town is paved however. We wanted to visit the national park but we couldn't drive there and while we booked a kayak tour in the Mangroves through Tripadvisor, the tour company never responded so it was cancelled.
Puerto Jiménez is a great place to stay while you travel to the surrounding areas for excursions. It's a 2 hour collective bus ride to Carate where the main Corcovado National Park trail begins. I would recommend every excursion available to anyone who would like to experience the rainforest and it's beauty.
It's a good central area. No need to be here more than 2 days. Go travel around to other parts of the gulf. (Rent a 4×4 car). Dolphin and snorkeling tour was fun. Take the ferry to the Golfito and do the Natural Park. Go to Playa Carate and stay there. Go hike in Corcovado. Visit other towns.

A beautiful bed and breakfast run by a delightful French couple, one of which is a French chef. They went above and beyond to make my very brief stay in Puerto Jimenez a positive one. They have dogs and cats, which was no problem for me but definitely something that travelers should be aware of. It was a great value as well, I definitely recommend it for solo travelers or couples. The best part was that they woke up at 4 am to make me breakfast before I left at 5 am for a hiking trip. IT WAS DELICIOUS! Thanks for the wonderful experience.

The owner Berta is simply amazing! Such a sweet lady. Cabinas the Corner is the perfect place to stay in Puerto Jimenez. Basically almost next to the bus station and 4 tour offices, nice beds (No bunks, which is nice). And in the middle of many food opportunities. This is the place to be if you arrive from a long trip from San Jose for example and you want to go to Corcovado NP. Do not go to the tour office next door though (Jaguar Tour). There are better ones and we had quite a bad experience with them unfortunately

It’s a brand new hotel. We were the only customers but still the owner and the cook were really professional and careful with us. The view from the swimming pool is astonishing. The food was really great and coffee, water and fresh fruit were available all day long for free. We got a huge house with jacuzzi in the middle of the forest - amazing ! We arranged with the owner the payment in cash in Puerto Jimenez to avoid us to return to the hotel - really helpful ! We can only recommend this hotel !!

Christian, who is a guide at Corcovado Park, was very helpful with area information. We also liked the location of the hostel, some of the other hotels are in the central town area and it is fairly noisy and dusty there. If you just walk a couple more blocks from the town central you are at corcovado wild, much more quiet. Our room was clean, and the kitchen well stocked. The wifi was another bonus.

Everything was fantastic! We had a lovely private room at the rear of the property with air conditioning. It was very clean and comfortable. Each morning we would wake up and drink our coffee while watching the monkeys play in the trees above us! We loved it so much that we booked an extra 2 nights. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else while in Puerto Jiménez.

Nice comfortable room, good parking lot, nice pool, short walk across street to beach, restaurant on site, helpful staff. Stephanie at the hotel referred us to Randall as a guide to visit local parks. He was excellent and very knowledgeable.

Nothing matters when hotel staff threaten and bully and then leaves a customer without a room There is no excuse for this abuse. It is difficult to believe that a hotel in Costa Rica would treat their customers this way.

We arrived late and left early in the morning. The owners had been waiting up for us to make sure we arrived safely, and after someone parked behind us they made sure to find the person and move them so we could get out in the morning without us asking! On top of this we has misplaced our passport and they were wonderful with helping us locate it. All around wonderful place with wonderful people.

The staff is great. Anything you need will be set up and taken care of. The breakfast, lunch and dinner was very high quality. Make sure you book the meal plan so your dinner is included. Then you sit at a large 20 person communal table where everyone eats together and talks. You have time to meet other guests at dinner which leads to very nice converstion.
