It is a good city for weekend sight seeing because it's small. You can get to the city centre by car or by public transport (which is very good). A must-see place is stodolni street (where you can drink beer in the one of many pubs), Masaryk square and a zoo.
The people were friendly, the food was great. The CROWN Exhibit at the Ostravarske Muzeum was world class! It is a must see. The Ostrava Arena was a great place to spend a few days watching the 2017 European Figure Skating Championships. Prices inside were a pleasant surprise compared to US arenas. Seats were comfortable and easy to get to. Taxis were comfortable and reasonably priced
Went with a group of friends to experience the nightlife. Left after just 1 day as the place itself was literally empty, and the infamous Stodolni street was just awful! It was a Saturday night so we expected it to be busy, however other than a couple of bars, the place had little atmosphere and no clubs, with the biggest holding little over 100 people. We got straight in a taxi to Krakow the next morning!
The city center is actually quite nice and I have discovered some shops and coffee places that I intend to visit next year, as I will be going to the Colors of Ostrava festival again. As I was on the festival, I wasn't visiting the local night bars and clubs, so I cannot rate those, but I recommend highly to visit the festival. As for the festival, picture post-apocaliptic Mad Max scenery (minus the desert) with a lot going on and an excellent music group line-up.
Beautiful city with lots of industrial monuments. Do not miss if you like coal mines and steel mills. Dul Michal , Landek Park , Vitkovice Steel Mill and Oldies Festival were great, Stodolni street is nothing special.
“Friendly staff, location close to the Ostrava hl.n. station”
“Great value, room was clean and modern, well equipped. In comparison with hotels at this price range it offers better comfort a value for the money is great. We didn't hear any neighbours throughout our whole stay.”
“Perfect if traveling flix bus or train. Saw hotel as bus passed. Tram passes in front. Manager was the best breakfast very good. Only about 3 minute walk from bus stop. Room was on top floor and had special style. Can buy day pass at train station for bus and trams then enjoy beautiful city of Ostrava.”
“Very nice hotel with good restaurant of traditional Czech cuisine. Love it!”
“The hotel is modern and maintained very well in a great location. Room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed for a business trip. What stood out the most was the exceptional customer service from both hotel and restaurant staff, as well as the restaurant food--wonderful! We look forward to returning.”
