Eisenach is Germany. I want to go there again, but I suspect that my memories of it will shine brighter than a return trip might. I would enjoy taking a friend there to make new memories with. Delightful place.
The location was superb along with the views of the maountains, forest and castle. The restaurant serves good local cooking and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Comfortable, clean room with a view.
While Eisenach was larger than expected, the Old Town area is compact and walkable. The main feature of Eisenach is the forbidding Wartburg Castle, where Martin Luther the Reformer was obliged to go to ground while Catholic Church authorities searched for him. While hiding out here, Luther managed to translate the Bible into German, thus for the first time making it accessible to the public. Luther’s family also lived in Eisenach for several years, and the half-timbered house in which they lived is preserved as a museum. Nearby, but over 160 years later, Johann Sebastian Bach was born and raised. The Bach House celebrates his life and times. Eisenach Old Town also possesses a picturesque city square, complete with traditional church, steeple and period monuments.
Eisenach is a nice little town. There are at least 2 nice museums (Lutherhaus and Bachhaus) and a nice walking downtown. There is a public pay toilette in the square near the narrowest house in East Germany which was a bonus! If you are touring around Germany I'd say no more than a day or day and a half is sufficient. Warburg castle is worthwhile but a little harder to get to than we thought it would be.
The Wartburg Castle is a must. Find the footpath (Fußweg) through the woods - it's definitely a fun and beautiful 30 minute (or so) hike up. If you want to stop by the Lutherhaus make sure you visit after Monday as it's closed that day. The Bach house was also a good stop - ask about the music presentation. And for the most part, if you're up to an active day, you can easily walk where you want to go which can be a nice change from figuring out transportation and a good chance to use your map skills, explore, and laugh getting lost.
Eisenach is a town that is not too big and not too small and most importantly, not too touristy. It has a great pedestrian zone and great history. Places of interest include the Bachhaus (JS Bach was born in Eisenach), the Lutherhaus, which is a museum dedicated to Martin Luther's work in translating The Bible and just 2Km away, Wartburg Castle.

We stayed in the separate family apartment awayfrom the hotel. Clean, perfect for my family of 2 adults and 3 kids. Easy check in and out at key box. Everything you need to make simple meals in kitchen. Quiet. Comfortable beds - there were 5 single beds divided into 3 rooms. Easy, secure parking (looks like gated lot is shared with neighbors). Great communication with hotel for check in instructions. Maybe 10 minutes off highway. We will remember this place when traveling.

This is a charming old home in a older neighborhood. It has all the warmth and experience of staying in a German residence, not a could be anywhere in the world hotel. The beds are comfortable, the room a good size, the bath modern. The breakfast was plentiful and filled with local foods. It felt like a visit to a the home of a German friend. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

The room was mediocre at best. The tub was very difficult to step in and out of to take a shower. It was very slippery. The room was very warm without having the windows open. I know that the hotel is in Germany, but the television had zero English channels. That’s as good as it got.

A former sanitarium, some hotel features are charming. The road to the hotel is narrow and winding, which gives it the feel of being unique. Our room was lovely; we especially loved the ceiling!
