Stayed one night in 2020 during a transit trip, in February 2026 we stayed here for three days. In 2020 we stayed in a restored room with a view and terrace on the Moselle. This time (2026) our room was located at the back with a view of the vineyards, the room had one minus: the bathroom needs to be renovated! This is a small minus to an otherwise perfect stay. Breakfast is served in two shifts (8.00 - 9.00 / 9.30 - 10.30) and is very extensive with rolls, rye-multigrain bread, toast bread, vegan butter, coffee, plant-based milks, fruit juices, tea, fruit, vegan yoghurt, vegan cheese, vegan meat successors for the rolls, seeds and grains, cereals, jams, chocolate spread and a very extensive range of cold dishes that change from day to day. No croissants or other Danish pastries, no hot dishes such as scrambled tofu (hot breakfast dishes are included in the Sunday brunch). Even without hot dishes, the breakfast was very successful, so extensive that we did not have to eat in the afternoon. There is a beautiful wellness complex in the hotel. https://www.hotel-nicolay.de/wellness/ We relaxed in the sauna, infrared cabin and indoor swimming pool, everything is very neat! You can eat delicious vegan dishes in one of their four restaurants. 'The Weinstube' serves exclusively vegan gourmet dishes, the first of its kind in Germany. 'The Sonnenuhr' serves tasty, regional 100% vegetable dishes. 'The Schlossberg' is the house menu evening restaurant. There is an extensive vegan wine list come from the wine cellar of the hotel. 'The Nicolays Moselle Terrace' haves 17 classic ice cream sundaes, cakes, donuts, cupcakes, apple strudel, home-baked Brussels waffles, flame cakes and savory dishes on the menu. On Sundays the hotel offers a brunch (€37 pp or €28 pp for hotel guests).

Everything! A fabulous location, very scenic surroundings. We received a lovely welcome by the owner. She was very informative about the local area, & her English was excellent. Exceptional evening meal - very reasonably priced & delicious. Fabulous large room, spotlessly clean with lots of great homely comforts.

Perfect hospitality, Sebastian was so heplful, I arrived very late and there were clear instructions how to enter my room. Breakfast wonderfull and I loved their coffee. I had a very late flight and asked them if I can check out later. Sebastian allowed me to stay as much as I needed after checkout and that doesn't happen often anymore.

For a budget hotel, it was fantastic. Extremely clean, respectful staff and good parking.

It is never clear with Booking.com if we have to place in thet hotel or if Booking takes the money away from our visa account.

We stayed at this hotel on our travels through Germany in 2025, and it turned out to be the most comfortable hotel we’ve visited all year. At first glance, it might seem unassuming or even a bit odd, but inside, everything is truly designed for the guests’ comfort. There’s an excellent sauna complex, fantastic mattresses, and all the amenities you need in the room. The interior is admittedly quirky, but it’s all very pleasant. Heated bathroom floors, a spacious shower, and clean, chlorine-free tap water made the stay feel even more luxurious. Breakfast was diverse and fresh, and there was a wonderful Italian restaurant with speedy service and delicious, delicately seasoned food—not oversalted like in many other places. The wine selection was excellent, and the staff was genuinely kind.

Simple breakfast to start the day, with all energy you need to discover the Mosel area! View on the Mosel itself and very polite staff and management. I will return to Rolf and his family as soon as I need some rest and peace, away from the city.

Nice location, especially for people on bicycle trips. Location not suited for people with mobility problems, as rooms are accessible by stairs only. No A/C, no coffee/tea making facility nor mini bar.
