Very cozy Hotel. The owner of the hotel (Ruben) was very present and interacted with guests, He was very kind and Respectful to all guests, At breakfast he came to our table and greeted us, He was a gentleman and whenever we saw him he treated us as friends. I LOOOVE THIS PLACE ! I highly recommend this hotel . You get a big confortable apartment. It is very clean . I just love the vibe of the apartment I stayed . It was right in front of the beach . The staff there are so nice and friendly ! I travel around the world and hardly ever you encounter that the whole hotel staff are so friendly and make you feel like home !! I WANT TO HO BACK TO THE SAME APARTMENT PLEASE :)

I booked Velero Beach Resort for a bachelorette weekend with my girlfriends. The resort offered a penthouse suite that was well-priced and accommodating. Upon arrival, the security guard who was posted on the street made sure we were with the hotel and then let us through. Check-in was firmly at 3 pm but we were able to go to the pool and hotel bar until we wanted to check in. The front desk attendant (Juan) was so nice and welcoming. He gave us all the info we needed and let us know we could come to him for whatever we needed. The room was so clean! I've stayed in other places where the room smells like mold and this hotel did not! The housekeeping staff were equally as nice. One morning my sister was sleeping and I asked that they not go in her room. They were so quiet that she didn't even know anyone came. We also somehow locked ourselves out of our safe. Juan sent someone up that helped us reset the safe and made sure one of us was in the room to reset the safe again, which made us feel safe. The hotel itself is located at the beginning (or end) of the main strip of Cabarete. The beach was clean and we were never bothered by vendors as the hotel beach is blocked by rocks and barricades. The beach is also safer than most other parts bc of the rock barricades, so we were able to swim carefree. We felt safe at all times. The resort also has their own bar and restaurant, which was great. The food was really good and the staff were friendly. You can also order food from the bar and bring it to the pool. Overall, Velero Beach Resort rose above our expectations and I will recommend it to anyone looking to go to Cabarete!

The receptionist, Kenny, is perfect. Very polite, knows everything, perfect english and very helpful. The location is perfect directly at the beach for kitesurfing or walking at the beach. We had a room with balcony an could see every morning a marvelous sunrise. Thomas

Our favorite stay in the DR by far! Property is gorgeous and the staff and guests are both laid back and friendly. Spring for a massage as they are affordable and excellent. Food was great with many options for varied diets. I don’t drink alcohol and really appreciated the delicious mocktail menu. We are a married couple traveling without our kids, but the facility is child- and baby-friendly and all children we saw there were remarkably well-behaved. Our cabana was gorgeous with a great mattress. We loved lazing on the porch with its comfy hammock. We didn’t spend time at the pool with the ocean right there, but it was clean and a comfortable temperature. The property arranged multiple drivers for us, and they were extremely punctual (even in the very early morning) and well worth the cost. Maximo drove us to the waterfalls and dropped us at our next hotel in Puerto Plata afterward, and he was great. Highly recommend!

It is difficult to walk along the main road, especially with kids. We tried our stroller and that was almost impossible and often dangeroud having to go in and out of the streets because the bumps and breaks in the sidewalk were impossible to navigate with a stroller at times. The beaches are great. Mojito Bar, Vagamundo and Fresh Fresh our our favorite eating places.

Cabarete has a laid-back feel that is perfect for an easygoing vacation. The waves are fun the play in and the water/wind sports are fun and colorful to watch. Getting around is easy by walking. High tide will make some of the beach walking a challenge if you are too far down the beach, but still doable.

Cabarete has a very different atmosphere than other parts of Dominican Republic. It is a surfer town with a very relaxed energy. You find good restaurant options (fresh fresh cafe, gorditos fresh mex, la casita de papi, mojito bar, belgium bakery, vagamundo coffee, friend’s, ojo club), some shops, fun relaxed night life and there is a nice enough beach with bars, restaurants and kite and windsurf rentals/schools. It is quite a small town so staying here for a longer time could become boring if you don’t do day trips to other areas near by. I travel a lot to the DR and always enjoy staying 3-5 days in the area because of the nice restaurant and relaxed surfer vibes and the change to another part of the country to continue my vacation.

Lots of shops with a variety of goods along main street (busy so careful crossing). Bars & restaurents were excellent! Good entertainment, lots of expats in town and along the beach. Dominicans are friendly and helpful. As elsewhere, stay with the crowds if out at night. Stay on the beaten track. I walked all over during the day, A small nieghbourhood bar was a great stop on a hot afternoon.

Compliments to the helpful and pleasant staff.

Compliments to the helpful and pleasant staff. Extra cudos to Senior Santos, Jennifer, the security team and maintenance crew that made me feel very welcome. It suited me for a quiet space to decompress and enjoy some reflection time. I would highly recommend this property for couples and solo travelers. The local residents were also kind and pleasant to mingle with. Thank you all again, I plan to return next year. Cheers, Chris from Canada.

We liked everything! The room, the pool, the tranquility, the hammock, the beach in front of the door, the staff. We must highlight the outstanding food we were served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That was absolutely top notch and probably the best we have eaten in the RD. Special thanks to the staff!

If you are searching for a safe and good value for money stay directly on the beach, this is the one! It is perfect for 1-2 persons especially if you visit Cabarete for watersports. The owner Nikolai is super friendly and helpful, even spontaneously prolonging the stay was not an issue.
