With mountain views, Clave Verde Ecolodge is located in Las Terrenas and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, outdoor pool and terrace. We absolutely loved the ecolodge, it is located in a quiet area near the Limon waterfall. The sorrunding is magical, green and peaceful. The food was absolutely amazing, they have an excellent chef named Sandra who prepares delicious meals. And the owners are really kind and made us feel wellcome, they also helped us with our trip to the falls. Would highly recommend!
This place is know for a famous waterfall, called El Salto de Limon. We saw the photos of it on google and TripAdvisor so we decided to see it for ourselves. Well, first of all, El Limon itself is a village with not even one single decent looking restaurant. Everywhere poor, unclean environment, people are dirty, constantly try to hang onto you to get money off of you. Most of the houses are just makeshift shacks, people living in extremely dirty, poor conditions. First a biker guy promised us to take us to the waterfalls by bike for a reasonable sum, so we got onto his bike. Halfway through the road dropped us off at a different place saying we should get horses now (this is another way to rip off tourists, go horseback riding to the waterfall on really shabby sad looking horses). We refused to go with the horses and demanded him to take us to the waterfall as he promised. He eventually took us to the so called entrance to the waterfall. There was a shed looking place where a girl was asking for entrance fee then when we paid the entrance fee, she told us we need a guide because to road to the waterfall is dangerous?! We refused to pay for a guide then soon enough we realised there are no signs or road clearly marked which way to go and after a while we came across a river as well which was uncrossable. We went back to the entrance asking our money back but she refused to give our money back. Total rip off.
