Venue Hotel, Hotel Campanario, and Hotel Victoria got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Cuenca.
We enjoyed the historic town of Cuenca. There are wonderful things to see just going down the street. There are markets, churches and shopping galore, Lots of wonderful sights to see. The rivers and parks are beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the Pumapungo museum. The Hotel Victoria is centrally located with a great staff (our second stay there.) The breakfast was fit for a king and queen. This is our third visit and next time we want to stay for at least two weeks or more. Taxis are great and inexpensive. We don't do public transportation, but it is easily available. Ask locals if you suffer from <soroche> (altitude sickness) and there are "scrips" for this. The people are warm and friendly. The Sheraton is out of town but near Turi and has a high-end restaurant. The Hotel Inca Real is quaint & historic with a wonderful restaurant, in the historic district. The Mansión Alcazar is nearby if you are on a bigger budget, and has a wonderful restaurant. The museum that is one or two doors down from the Hotel Victoria is beautiful, historic and has a great café as does the Museo del sombrero de paja toquilla (the <Panama> hat that really came from Ecuador) Don't miss the Dos Chorreras chocolate store and I believe they also have lodgings.
A very walkable and safe city. So beautiful and clean. Impressive architectute, well preserved. The perfect spot for jogging were the paths running alongside Tomebamba river. Spectacular and surrounded by vegetation. I'd visit the place, again.
A great place to spend Easter week. There is a beautiful cathedral in the center of the city and many smaller inglesas close by. The city is located in a valley at an elevation of about 8,500 feet so it is pleasantly cool year round. Lots of Inca history here predating the Spanish by hundreds of years. The city center is very walkable but taxis and buses are plentiful and very inexpensive. There is also a Metro system.
It is a beautiful city with a lot of charm and history. There are amazing museums, churches and impressive architecture. The food is delicious and the people are very friendly. The Pumapungo museum is a must and El Mercado restaurant is great!
Cuenca is a beautiful City with friendly people and diverse Cultures and very inexpensive for foreigners. It was a breeze for me to ask for directions etc in their own language because my phone GPS was Not working properly. The city is well designed and easy to get around walking, taxis, and a train running from downtown to the airport There are lots of restaurants downtown and the best quality chocolate you can buy. There is a large community of international long term visitors, and retirees willing to step in and help if you find yourself lost. I can’t wait to visit again soon, it was a pleasure for sure.
Cuenca is a great city with a good and inexpensive transportation system ( 30 cents USD for bus and tram with a card) taxis usually way less then $3 USD. Restaurants are good many with international cuisine flavour
We loved the tastefully done French Colonial style. We were very pleased with the shower. The water flow was strong and hot! The room had a refrigerator and complementary water. We appreciated the room service as well. The breakfast offered was very tasty and plentiful. The location was very convenient to the Historical District. We enjoyed walking from the hotel to see the city. We believe we have found our favorite place to stay in Cuenca.
The staff was incredible. They were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was nice and there is free coffee/tea/water refills. The inner dining courtyard is lovely and the hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the main square and Cathedral. We extended our stay from 2 to 4 nights because the value for money is excellent compared to some other hotels in Cuenca. Cuenca itself is a beautiful city and well worth exploring.
You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's a perfect place to stay if you want both old town Cuenca and easy access to the Tomebamba river and other great local shops and restaurants around Huayana-Capac and Sucre. They were super friendly and didn't bat an eye when we brought our huge dog into the hotel. We stayed in two suites with private bathrooms and had a beautiful view of the river and mountains.
Cuenca
Everything was great with an exceptional staff! When you get inside, it’s like another world. Beautifully decorated and so are the rooms. Very clean bathroom and what was surprisingly awesome, was a Hot Shower 🚿 😁💙👏🏽 The Hotel is Centrally located and the Tranvía is close by to travel in style to many parts of the city.I will stay at Hotel Inez Maria every time I visit Cuenca.
The hotel is in a great location, friendly staff, very homely, with a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was very good. We highly recommend staying here, Cuenca is a beautiful old city, and there is nowhere better to start your exploring than from here. We considered ourselves very safe at all times, even after dark, which isn't always the case everywhere in Ecuador.
The hotel is located right in the city center of Cuenca. The staff is very kind and willing to provide tourist information. the room is clean and breakfast is good. The hotel is built in an Old Cuenca house, very beautiful. well maintained and good facilities.
Cuenca
The location of the hotel is very good to explore Cuenca and the staff is friendly and helpful. The room and the bathroom were clean and the shower had hot water. The breakfast was basic but sufficient (tee/coffee, toast, some pieces fruits and eggs).
A very nice boutique hotel, service was great. Natalie had a very good breakfast for us every morning. Our rooms were done everytime we got back from our walks . Location was just very convenient. Enjoyed our stay and will go back to sure.
