Alajar is a beautiful, remote Spanish village.

Alajar is a beautiful, remote Spanish village. A few local grocery shops and bars. A great base to go hiking from. Hardly anywhere to eat in the evenings though. We had a great evening meal at Posada de San Marcos where Lucy really looked after us and sorted out our transport for the following days' hike.

Alajar is a charming white Andalusian village surrounded by several hamlets. The surrounding area features numerous trails winding through trees and meadows. The place is very pleasant and the people are very friendly.

We really enjoyed visiting the Peña de Arias Montano and the...

We really enjoyed visiting the Peña de Arias Montano and the Hermitage; we loved it. We went by car and everything was great. We walked around the town a lot. We ate at several places: Casa Cruz, El Corcho, and El Molino. Of the three, we liked El Molino the most. The food was very similar, but the service and attention were better at El Molino.

A peaceful village steeped in history.

A peaceful village steeped in history. Ideal for relaxing stays and exploring its natural surroundings with numerous hiking trails. Despite its small size, it boasts a good selection of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets (La Placita, Mesón el Corcho, Restaurante Casa Cruz, El Poleo, La Parra...).

Lovely breakfast, friendly and helpful owners, excellent food served every evening, and Saturday evenings are particularly fabulous with entertainment, music and gorgeous food and wine! Our room was beautiful and spacious with chairs and a fireplace as well as a super comfy large bed. The hotel is in a very quiet area so you would want a car to get here and to get around - the roads, some are quite steep and most bend and twist, but they are very good roads surface-wise so no worries at all and with fabulous views all around.

In the heart of Alájar. Traditional local house. The help Camino gave us was exceptional. She helped us to book a New Year’s Eve meal and gave us updates on local events. Although the property stated there was no WiFi, she went out of her way to obtain a WiFi connection for us from another property for the duration of our stay.

The outdoor patio was the best feature of the property as it was private and shaded. There were tables and chairs plus a cushioned, moveable, DIY sofa. The hamlet, El Collado, is very quiet. The nearby village Alajar is pretty with cafes, bars and restaurants. There are good walks from the property.

Lovely purpose built hotel in a wonderful location with nature and bird singing. Very relaxing. Spacious room with a nice outdoor space. Swimming pool open. Delicious dinner and breakfast and great hotel owners!! Very happy with our stay.
