The old town is lovely with plenty of shops and restaurants, and a great view over Altea. There is a super ice cream place in the middle square, and the area does get busy at night. It is hilly and accessible by steps so people with mobility issues may struggle. The beach area and promenade is good with plenty of restaurants next to the beach. The beach is pebble so a chair or hire of a sun lounger is needed, and the gradient into the water is quite steep. We stayed for 3 days which we found enough to see and do everything.

Altea is in two parts.
Altea is in two parts. A nice long promenade with large selection of restaurants, really clean and everyone very welcoming. The upper old town is a bit of an uphill walk from the sea front but well worth it. Again lots of choice for dining and some nice boutique shops and fabulous views.

I love Altea, this is the 2nd time staying there and would go again, A week for us was a bit short as we drove down from south of France. The old town is beautiful, quite a climb up but for the faint hearted taxis are available. Lovely sea front and marina. lots of bars and restaurants really enjoyed the food at the greek resto. Peacefull area recommend for families, lots of water sports available and boat trips. Very nice market on a Tuesday. I would recommend visiting Moraira and calpe which are both nearby. Close to Benidorm number 10 but takes you there. We stayed in July temperatures 30°. not one mosquito bite I couldn't believe it. Lovely bar tapas in the old town in front of the church, The staff were so friendly.

Altea is a beautiful location with a classic white-washed mediterreanean "old town" and a lovely beach. It seems like a popular tourist destination, and restaurant and hotel staff are very helpful, friendly and gracious. Although many Spaniards eat dinner very late in the evening, I appreciated that Altea's restaurants are available to visitors seeking earlier meal times!

It's a nice town to visit if you are in Alicante and looking for a weekend break. The old town has character. Prices are more expensive than other places in Spain though and it seems to attract wealthier people. Avoid the over expensive restaurants near the top of the old town. Valor is a nice Spanish cafe for churros and coffee. Overall it's a nice spot.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful situation. Clean, modern, very comfortable. Huge bedrooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, great pool facilities. Not too busy so easy to get a sun lounger by one of the pools. Kids club was excellent and run by very nice and enthusiastic staff. Just a short walk to the beach area (direct access) which has a few low-key but good beach bars and restaurants. A short 5 minute taxi journey into Altea
Superb hotel about 10/15 minutes walk from old town Altea. Hotel had a special charm. Great free parking. Large and very comfortable room with balcony. Lovely garden with swimming pool. Good choice for breakfast. Dinner served in the restaurant or on adjoining veranda was suburb and good value and I wish I'd eaten there both nights of my stay. Other restaurants and bars in old town. Lovely helpful staff. All perfect
The room was exactly as pictured and described and very good value. We loved the location, with the hotel café being right on the seafront. It was easy to check in outside reception hours with the codes provided. Breakfast was copious and delicious! Thank you for the welcome the next morning at Reception and all the helpful information about visiting the old town of Altea.
Location was exceptional. Views from the apartment were beautiful. Right on the main promenade plenty off lovely restaurants and only a short walk to Altea old town with many cobble streets and lovely views if you want authentic Spain it’s the place to be. Lourdes and Pedro were very welcoming and very helpful with their knowledge of the surrounding area.
