Beautiful old hotel in the country. Loved that they offer a free taxi service for the weary pilgrim. Gardens are peaceful, staff excellent and had delicious meals! Highly recommend. Maureen in. Colorado
I was greeted by a girl who I think was called Jenny. (From Romania). Her cheerfulness struck me as she showed me around and informed me about all the facilities. Many hours later I saw her greeting more guests with the same cheerful enthusiasm and wondered how she could still be so pleasent after all the people she had seen. She is a real bonus to the hostel.
Restaurant staffs were not very friendly. We had a hard time finding a plane to eat at 6:00. The one we found had a very simple pilgrim meal. Not near as nice as the others we had had for the past two weeks.
Nice small little town easy to see in a couple of hours. A must is to try the Queso de Arzua, the local cheese with quince jelly. Do not miss. Also if you can get a reservation at Casa Nene you will not be disappointed. A great restaurant that would compete in any large modern city
Get place to stop and catch your breath from the Camino. Plenty of restaurants, a great bakery/candy shop, and services. We arrived late on a Sunday night but we're still able to get food. We were so tired we asked for carry out, which they didn't know what we meant, but did package the pizza up like it was a crystal vase. Great people.
Ardua is a place you don't need to go unless walking El Camino. Even thought, when possible try to avoid it. Such amazing souroundings do not deserve that ugly industrial village with an small historic center. If you are making the Camino, make the stop in the precedent villages, because those are beautiful and in a convenient location to complete this stage.
