Located in the center of Covarrubias, Hotel Rural Princesa Kristina offers heated rooms with free WiFi and a flat-screen TV. Breakfast was great. The hostal was located in the centre of Covaburrias. Offering an à la carte restaurant, Asador Hostal Taberna Moruga is located in Hortigüela. The rustic-style guest house features free Wi-Fi access and heated rooms with mountain views. Best value in the area The proprietor was very helpful And hospitable with explaining locations of interest nearby. The building is antique and has a charm to it inside that isn’t readily apparent on the outside. The room is large, clean and antique. Standard Spanish breakfast included (and the proprietress remembered how we liked our coffee).
El Batan Del Molino is set in Quintanilla del Agua and offers a restaurant, water sports facilities and barbecue facilities. This was a slice of heaven. Absolutely stunning building and grounds as you'd expect from a business which includes a landscape design and a plant nursery. With only 4 or 5 guest rooms the swimming pool was usually empty so it was like having your own private pool. The gardens were intriguingly designed so there were all sorts of new and gorgeous parts to discover. The host couldn't have been more welcoming nor more attentive throughout our stay. This is a real escape from the madness of life
A typical rural Spanish hotel set in an interesting historical village. We used this as an overnight stop on the way to the ferry. 2 hours from Bilbao was just right. Very friendly. Covarrubias was just passed Lerma and we stopped there in the morning on our way out.
Covarrubias is charming as a place to visit. The bars and restaurants provide very good traditional cuisine. The architecture is fascinating and in addition Covarrubias is a good place to walk from. There are several walks of varying lengths and difficulties to experience. The environs are beautiful.
Very nice to wander the narrow alleys and squares. Plenty of outside cafes for a drink or dinner. Away from the main square there are smaller squares where the locals go and watching the children play in the evening is great There is horse riding, walking, cycling, and water sports all available from the town
