Fantastic little town. I would recommend a guided 2 hour tour around the town which you can book at the tourist info office. Don't miss the monasteries of Sanras Creus and Poblet. A long weekend is plenty of time.
Montblanc and the surrounding region is a hidden treasure of Catalonia. There are many wineries in the surrounding area to explore and get a taste of what the region has to offer, be sure to sample some sparkling rose cava made Trepat grapes. Montblanc itself has a beautifully preserved old town surrounded by a medieval wall with many medieval buildings and an app that can be downloaded to guide you around the town and tell you about the historic buildings. Be sure to take the time to visit the Modernista (Art Nouveau) Wine Cathedrals that are located in Montblanc and the surrounding towns. The unesco world heritage Poblet monastery is located close by and is also a must see along with the other Monasteries within the Cister Route. Make a visit to Fonda del Angels restaurant for a simple, classic Catalan lunch with the locals, their alioli is to die for.
Montblonc is an absolute delight and a surprise package for the traveller . The old town is enchanting and has some surprises in store for you ! An easy place to walk and explore and just enjoy the flavour of this Medieval town with a modern twist.
Beautiful medieval town with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. Do your homework before you go, they do not have local literature in English (or if they do I couldn't find it). Train station directly opposite the entrance to the town so easily accessible. We went in June and it was 31 degrees everyday, would prefer to visit late Sept/Oct or early Spring before the temp rises.
