Órgiva offers access to the Alpujarra villages above within a very reasonable driving distance, and it also has night life and services which are harder to come by if you stay in the villages above. There is also a bohemian culture of young foreigners who seem to live there or visit long term. This group of foreigners seems to exist symbiotically alongside the Old Spanish culture that still dominates.
A really nice town with a weekly market and plenty of 'local' bars serving drinks, always accompanied by good tapas. Several good restaurants and the town is ideally located for exploring the Alpujarras region with its beautiful white mountain villages.
Orgiva has a lot to recommend it. It is well placed for bus services covering the area as far as Granada to the north and the coast to the south but more particularly into the hilly villages. The Tourist Information Bureau was open from 10am to 8pm five days a week with the main assistant speaking excellent english. It is in the main square which has a number of cafés and a covered market. There is a good range of shops and banks and all convenient to walk to from the central square. I discovered a small café in Calle Jesus y Maria with good food at much lower prices than elsewhere, run by an english wife and french husband with wifi available. It seemed to be open all hours - but no alcohol. My fun activity was sketching in my holiday journal.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The villa is at the outskirts of Orgiva with splendid view on the valley. It is situated in a large olive garden and provides all the necessities for a holiday stay. We liked it very much! Closeness to interesting villages - Capiliera, Lanjaron and ca. 1 hour to the splendid Grenada. We profited as well from walking and hiking tours in the neighbourhood.
A great wee traditional bolt hole in the Alpujarras, perfect for chilling and as a base for exploring the other mountain villages. The house itself is beautiful, very rustic, and quiet - set in the countryside near Orgiva where there are shops for supplies. The shared and private terraces and plunge pool are lovely for relaxing through the day, bbqing and watching the stars at night.
Excellent location in the Southern part of the Alpujarras. Only 20 minutes-on-foot away from Orgiva. Fantastic staff and bungalows, with all you need and more! Very quiet location, ideal for a writing retreat. The premises also include a restaurant serving delicious Spanish food (with some amazing Northern recipes from Basque Country's cuisine). Highly recommended!
Receptionist friendly, helpful. Small family hotel in a Spanish town. I felt welcome, totally at home and safe. No breakfast as it was late season, as it was an overnight stay I was catching a bus and this did not matter. A nice place to stay in Orgiva and suited to overnight stays.
Casa Jazmin is a wonderful hotel, like stepping in to the Garden of Eden with a small, beautiful pool area. The rooms are nice and clean. And the hotels hostesses are genuinely friendly and helpful. We felt like home and would Love to come back. Kind Regards, Katrin and Maths
James was very helpful. Because it is so central to Orgiva it is extremely well placed. Lovely roof terrace with jacuzzi and facilities for making own meals which could be helpful for some.
I like it because the staff were caring and it was informal. I guess the price was less than a town centre hotel.
The apartment is peaceful, clean, spacious with a secluded roof terrace and close to Orgiva Bus Stop.
Lovely place, right in the middle of Orgiva
